Hello all-I your need HELP! Amplifier recommendation for the newst Audeze LCD2's

I am purchasing a new pair of Audeze LCD2 headphones soon and would like sound (pardon the pun) advice from Head-Fiers on what desktop amplifier works best. Ideally, I would like to keep the cost of the amp to $1K max. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, it just seems backwards to spend more on the amp than the 'phones (though maybe that is just me and my self imposed budget-I am fully aware of great amps from Cavalli, Woo Audio, ALO, AURALic among others). A Sony HAP-Z1ES player will feed the amp, so balanced input into the amp is a possibility as well.

Here are two I'm considering now:

1) Burson Soloist

2) ALO Audio PanAm

Thank you all!

I've only heard the soloist, but it has a lot of low end grunt. Not necessarily just a bass boost (hard to tell), but even if so it really has a strong power supply that can deliver the current to any headphone. It was fantastic with 700-series AKGs I got to try with it so far and I can't imagine any amp aside from similar Bursons doing better (note I haven't heard the Heed CanAmp yet but it has a reputation for driving AKGs), and ditto with the LCD-2.

Burson Soloist (full size) and/or Soloist SL are solid recommendations for the audeze. Musical, neutral and does an outstanding job with vocals.

However, they need to be partnered with a good Dac. Which one you have?

fabio, currently, I am using JRIVER Media Center 19 out of my PC - but - I plan on upgrading to the Sony HAP-Z1ES this year.

I have not read anything about the SOLOIST SL from BURSON. I may have to look into that one!

Thank you!!

I saw it, terrific player.

The SL version is the non-stepped unit from burson, technically inferior to the original soloist. It doesn't have preamp.

Cheers
