Understanding Amp Power Specs

I need a powerful portable amp for a project.

In the project, they used a LM386 amp and here are the specs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LM386

Running this amp with 2x9Volts produces 700-1000mW and is barely enough for my needs.

 

I was looking at the EiiO E11 but output power is > 180 mW@32Ω.

Am I correct in thinking that there are no portable amps suited for my needs?

 

 

I would appreciate any comments or tips for helping me find an amp that will work.

I think a few of us are going to need a couple pieces of info.

 

1.)  What is the impedance and efficiency of the load you are trying to drive?

 

2.)  Is this a headphone, speaker, or other type of project?
