Imagine if detection of something in the 3.5mm input OR another button would override the DAC and access the headphone out even if the iDSD Micro's DAC section is being used through the RCA output. This would then be possible with a single Micro iDSD

Micro iDSD (RCA out) > Micro iTube > Micro iDSD (3.5mm input) > headphones

This would be amazing even at the expense the turbo stage or like a weaker turbo stage while functioning this way. If so, people would be able to further tune the sound with a preamp to match with their headphones. This is probably an odd idea but yeah…

so I guess what I'm saying is ....I WANT TUBE!!!

1. No room.

2. It would run down the battery very quickly.

3. USB power would not be enough to run it.

4. The iTUBE gets hot - almost too hot to touch in summer. The battery would not like it and nor would any attached player or phone.

What headphone are you using to hear this 'magic'?

What amp and transducer are you using that takes away this 'magic'?

Seems like you are comparing apples to oranges rolleyes.gif

Hi,

Exactly as above.

Except for the obvious, the RCAs and the 3.5mm are identical.

Also, further to these two points, also ensure you have level-matched, otherwise, not a real comparison.

Thanks.

Super Duper feature 1.9

Signal Polarity +/- (Digital input only)

Background

Sometimes referred to as "inverting phase," different people have different opinions on this subject, for example:

http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue1/cjwoodeffect.htm

http://www.polaritylist.com/

http://www.recordingmag.com/resources/resourceDetail/263.html

http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/polarity/polarity.html

http://www.herronaudio.com/images/Polarity.pdf

Explanation

Some people hear an improvement with the polarity adjusted, some people don’t. There is no right or wrong. It is your subjective preference.

From AMR's experience, this feature is enjoyed more in the North American market compared to Europe or the rest of the world.

How this benefits the listener

From recording to recording, try the polarity switch.

If you hear a difference, wonderful. The polarity switch means greater enjoyment to you.

If you cannot hear a difference, don’t worry, you are not in the minority, leave the polarity switch to its default “+”, non-inventing position.

At iFi, we let the listener dial-in the last few percent. So go ahead, flick that button and see if it is your cup of tea. We hope you like it.

DSD1792A has lower THD+N as you say, but it is 5 times more expensive than DSD1793.

Hi,

You're welcome.

Yes you and quite a few others did request it!

We nearly forgot. :normal_smile :

Hi,

A previous DAC chipset talk covered this area quite extensively previously - this was a few pages back.

In the next few days, we shall shed some light that will be quite interesting from measurements we have taken on the AP2 of the production micro iDSD.

As usual, bear in mind:

- specs should be taken as reference, not gospel

- measuring is not totally objective (and we would be first to admit that)

- sometimes, drilling down to the silicon-die level, you unlock/implement undocumented features.

Thanks.

Makes me wonder what you could possibly do with the DSD1792A....
