Record Store Day 2014

The list of releases for RSD 2014 has been launched:  http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases

Which one's catch your eye; any must-haves; will you be lining up the day of; is this years list a dud.....?

Personally, I'm quite disappointing with these offerings.

Last year there were about 10 albums I really wanted.

This year there are only two I'd like to get, but don't care all that much:

Biggie's "Life After Death" (which might be re-released after RSD, if last year's "Ready To Die" is any sort of an indication)

& Velvet Underground's "Loaded" (this edition is coloured vinyl, but the regular wax is already in heavy circulation).

Nothing on that list that I want. Good, because it saves me money. I just had to order a second LP cabinet to store all my current records. Cost a pretty penny, but looks really nice as well.

There are at least a dozen titles I'm interested in, and the odds are there will be more. This being said, the 2014 RSD offerings pale in comparison to last year. At this point, I'm betting the event won't be as successful for the stores. Last year, my store had its best day, ever, in 39 years in business. Doubt they'll see a repeat performance.

I'm excited most of all about the 2LP pressing of PE's It Takes a Nation of Millions.... It's about time!

I'm looking forward to this RSD, as I usually do. I whittle my 'want list' down to 5 or so lps and often do an impulse grab or two also. I'll be looking for:
Songs:Ohia 7" boxset
A Minor Forest
Life Without Buildings
The Moles
maybe Dinosaur Jr boxset...

Hmm...  unimpressive this year for me.  The two things I saw and want is the Cake Vinyl box set, and Ron Jeremy:  Understanding and Appreciating Classical Music with Ron Jeremy

"A 7" single of adult film star Ron Jeremy performing and discussing classical music at a piano.  This is a serious record laced with Ron's hilarious dialogue and off the cuff blue comments throughout his performances of Bach, Beethoven and more.  Colored vinyl.  Artwork and packaging by Keith Neltner."

ummm.....well, ummm..... ?..... !

not quite sure what to make of this one o_O

I know!  I think I'm actually going to see if I can get my hands on it, should be amusing to say the least :D

Gave my list to my store today. 14 titles: 8 LPs, 5 12"s, and a 10". I'm sure I'll pick up a few more, once I'm there. Less than a month to go....

So, with RSD 4 days away, I've updated my short list to:

-Joy Division [An Ideal For Living EP]
-Spoon [Love Ways EP]

-Biggie [Life After Death]

.... there's also a couple others I might pick up once in store, but I'm not going to splurge this year.

Anyone else?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of buzz this year O_o

RSD is like Christmas for many vinyl junkies !!

I snatched up a few today, thanks to my wonderful wife who trekked off to the record shop while I stayed home with the kids.

-Songs:Ohia box set 7" (totally wanted this!)
-Jaco Pastouris (criterion tapes) 12"
-Hank Williams "Garden Spot Programs" 10"
-Mazzy Star "I'm Less Here"

My wife also scored a limited edition Nick Cave bobblehead for winning a trivia quiz, and brought home a bunch of demos/free stuff. And got me a sweet Jaco Poster! Gotta love record store day.
