Burson Soloist – Headphon Amp / Preamp
One of the greatest headphone amps on the market, with a preamp output.
I bought this unit from an authorized dealer in October 2012, and barely touched it, so it is mint and no marks on it. This is the full headphone amp with preamp, so three inputs and a preamp output, as well as the variable gain headphone output. The variable gain makes it a match for any headphone. I’ve used it with the Hifiman HE-500 headphones, a minor Grado, the Sennheiser HD650 and a few in-ear models, all with terrific effect!
I am rather fastidious with this stuff so kept all original packing and manual which are included, with power cord and RCA cable. I have had it for less than a year, and simply have not had time to use it much, so very low hours, definitely under 50.
Take a look at all the reviews, including the 6moons shootout. It included the Soloist, which is sold online for $999, the Linnenberg u:c:a ($1,500) and HifiMan EF6 ($1,600). Srajan handed it to the Soloist, and it is an excellent review of the Soloist at http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/burson9/1.html and Burson’s belief in discrete circuits (no ICs here).
