I was recently at my local headphone store trying out the Hifiman HE-400, and quite liked their sound (better than my current and the other headphones in the store). However, at home, I made the decision to save up a bit more, and get a bit more expensive pair. Looking around, the Mr Speakers Alpha Dogs look really good. I was just wondering how good they sound with modern rock/ pop rock (i.e. Green Day, Paramore), and how they sound compared to the HE-400s.

Alpha Dog is more neutral, and HE-400 is a more fun sounding headphone. However, the instrument seperation is superior compare to the Alpha Dog. And Alpha Dog is close, but not a close sounding headphone, and HE-400 is open.
I personally recommend to go with the Alpha Dog because it's close (fits with more environment) and it's a better around headphone.
Do you know that HE-400i is coming out soon, and the weight improvement is significant? if you are not rush, and prefer the sound signature of HE-400. I would wait to hear more review about it.
