Dac or Receiver

I'm new to the whole audio scene, and I'm wondering what I should be using since I picked up a Yamaha rv702 receiver, and currently I'm currently using a fiio d3 dac for my pc, what I want to know is it worth it to try out the receiver or just keep using the dac.

Your individual user experience will always trump what anyone on an Internet forum tells you regarding what will sound best. You should try it. It's not important what we think smily_headphones1.gif

Need more details.

Is this audio setup for headphone or speakers?

Is this for music, movies or gaming?

I would assume you have the D3 connected to the computer's optical output and an analog audio (3.5mm to RCA) cable connecting the D3 to the Yamaha.

For the setup I would like to use both headphones and speakers, but most likely headphones, and its gonna be used for music and gaming.

I would definitely just try the Yamaha and see what you like better. It would be very difficult for anyone to predict that one will necessarily sound better than the other.
