I'll assume that you can now listen a few dB louder that you've been compromising during your patient wait. Oh the headroom happy_face1.gif
So how's Philip Glass sounding on your new rig?
He has a company car ()..and i never ever want a company car and never had, as u always have restrictions to it. So i dont need to renegotiate, i always have the cars i want even if they are not GREEN MINDED as most of the company cars my collegues are forced to have biggrin.gif

About philip glass.. Not yet...i am listening to all my music from A to Z, and am now at the letter 'E' (evanesence, with AGRESSIVE guitars!!! Yummy!!!) and when i came home i was listening to Ennio morricone. i have all his stuff (in lossless quality..6GB in total), from his early work (non-movie music, mostly italian/french stuff..so beautiful and pure those women sounded back then!) to his last stuff (movie soundtracks) and i listened 'to the good, the bad and the ugly' at least 4 times!!..
WOW..the music sounded like i had speakers strapped far away on horizontal pillars onto my head with that particular track, never heard it like this, so full, so balanced, so real..SOOOO big and SOOOOOOO wide..

By the way i totally hated how eminem, dont know why, but what i liked most on his track, the violins on the background sounded now so FAKE! Same thing with Akon. Is it possible they use samples of those instruments on their tracks instead of recording with real life violin players? I dont know..but didnt like it! And weird is that i loved how they sounded on my 337 and my he500! Its not about that they are more agressive or digital mastered music as Evanesence and even Petshop Boys (damn..the special effects the latter put in their music is unheared off..lolz) sound heavenly!
So that cant be it. Only thing i can think of that its just bad recorded as the tracks i have of eminem is of 24bits vinyl rips quality so kt cant be bad ripping (i tried various rips)

Am now listening to lossless 1600bps rips of Evanesence..OMFG..i cant stop listening to this..so full..so powerful, the violins sound beautifully real and trebly and FAST! On the most busy passages on certain tracks on which a whole choir, the players of the band itself , their female singer, while an orchestra plays in the back, all at once, my 337 couldnt extrahend every single piece of it correctly. It was mushed together as one musical soup, but now..u hear perfectly where it comes from..

is this where the headroom of 650.000uF comes in handy? So could this bit of extra reserves help with this kind of more or less agressive kind of music playing on which a million things happens? Who knows, and i honestly dont care..not as long it sounds like this. wink.gif

..am now listening to ' lithium', and one of the guitarist plunks the guitar..it sounds so organic..u can almost hear how much power he uses to plunk the guitar. (If i can say it that way) as if ur there! On the he500/337 it already sounded good..but this is unreal!!

So this Rig is NOT for everyone i found out. it doesnt magically brush out the oopsies or bad overmastered recordings. On the contrary, it shows it as an open window, the raw pure thruth! no filters! No curtains of love hiding stuff or helping out to make it sound better.

my 337 was a better amp in that, almost everything sounded wonderful on that amp with the he500, Only mp3''s were not liked. They almost were portaited as 2D (tunnellike) compared to REAL lossless stuff (i found out that some flacs roaming around on the net are actually just mp3's converted to flac..WHY WOULD U WANT TO DO THAT??? Lolz

But when i am at the "P" i will tell ya honestly how Philip Glass will sound like..

And as i expected..sound gets wider and wider and DEEPER..more 3D..hot treble is less now..i can listen to music with volume levels i never ever thought i could bare..but i just cant lower the volume as i think i found the sweet spot on this amp on which i can listen to almost all music before its gets totally unbarable (somehow tracks with lower bitrates sound much louder then then the true high quality 24bits 4000bps vinyl rips i have of some artists, like live concerts of Queen and Meatloaf. Those really blow ur mind!!!

I know it sounds all positive and fanlike....but i cant help it...i try to be as objective i can be...really i am!!!

..funny is that the guys on the BC forum believe every word of what i am babbling about and experiencing now..and when u check their speaker stuff ur heart stands still!! As my rig is one of a poor man compared to their stuff..and still they use the words and i quote:

Congrats. I saw internal pictures. I bet it sounds heavenly and simply, unbelievable. Great review-- it was a pleasure to read. Enjoy your system.
Or: Ditto that, Nikki. I only heard the NSL Jr. and THAT haunts me....the full blown version would have done me in!
Or: Congratulations - the anticipation must be a killer, The NSL still haunts me to this day.

And how about this: G ususally doesn't comment on how his pieces perform; he leaves that to others. He may comment on some facts, though. For example: if your piece is the first headphone amp to incorporate NSL technology and if your power supply is also one of the largest, if not the most, to date, for a headphone amp. Trust me, the BC community will understand those facts, and will know that G's reputation for quality and refinement, will speak volumes about how capable and amazing your headphone amp will sound. You, of course, will only know how truly special it is, once it's completely broken in.

End quotes

Well i rest my case..and those are the ones having stuff we only can dream about and some have those many many many years in use..i am a rookie compared to them..a humble little ant... wink.gif

damn..i again could put volume a bit higher.. I think its because the treble hotness is getting less and less..but the bass!!! Its not bass anymore...its something else..every instrument has his own frequency..i can even hear differences on drums..i have to check if thats not placebo effect..as i never ever knew that was possible..experiments experiments biggrin.gif

do drums have different kind of sounding anyway???

Have to go again...

2morrow i will keep my promise to my loyal monkey friend biggrin.gif. So be a little bit more patient my funny friend..i always keep my promises

Am now listening to 'a very short track named 'The end' of evanescence...OMFG that sloooooow super lowww basss, it dies out sooooo slowly and so beautifully..as if its alive...

Sorry guys..it sometimes even makes me emotional...such beautiful tones i am hearing now..and her silky husky voice, sometimes raw and screamy and then again soft and silky... Damn i wanna marry her!!

Am going to lay back and close my eyes again to listen to music on my super comfy relax chair.. Peace out my dear crazy friends cool.gif

until next time.

You are so excited about your new amp that you missed the joke about the boss being your wife and that you will have to negotiate an upgrade to her mini cooper before your next audio acquisition. :D

We can chat about the benefits of capacitors another time, you're having too much fun now. Oh, don't forget to put in some time at bed, asleep. Never mind, the only sleep you're going to get is when you pass out with your headphones on and the music playing.

Oh..yep..didn't see that coming..we'll..even if I was not in this state I wouldn't get it biggrin.gif

And nope no negotiating..today she got some yummy fashionable premium stuff for herself and my little girl paid by me...ouch!!!! And I was the best husband/dad u could find today again...I think I was as nice as u only can find on those comedy's on TV..hehehe my little daughter knows all about my amp..but keeps our secret as she likes her new headphone (my mmx300) to much..yep I bought her off..as she is to smart for her age and saw right through me (I think she has my anti-bullshiit radar inherited.hehehehe), as when she saw the huge box in the living room when she was brought home by grandma, she just smiled at me when I said it costed just 1000usd and just answered: yeah right papi chulo (my nickname at home) hehehehe luckily my wife was to busy putting the boxes away of her new stuff..Lolz

I am always having fun if it's concerning audio, tuning and racing cars, building PC's, FPS gaming or women (okay that last one came out a bit wrong..Lolz)..

but I agree..I am acting a bit like an addict now since I have the new amp..so weird!!! Can't help it...and yep..sometimes I fall asleep with the headphone on my head in my comfy chair..as it's soooooo comfy...it's a million years old..and looks even older!!! I got it from my mum after she bought some kind of EXPENSIVE ergonomic electrical new one a few months ago..its better for her back some slick salesman told her and she fell for it..I wasn't here back then, was for business in Portugal...but for sure I would show him something if I was!..but am glad I got this chair from her...it's soooo soft...they don't make them like this anymore.. Lolz

But don't worry..my body only needs 4hours sleep..so lots of time to,listen at night when all the family goes to bed at around 22:00. And I only need to get up at 8am again..so lots of hours to listen...yeah!!!!!

Capacitors?? U know I am totally non technical right? eek.gif

You are devious, but one day your daughter will learn to blackmail you.

By now you have fallen asleep with your headphones on, dreaming about blue circles.

You keep talking about high bps 24 bit tracks.. Don't tell me you have fallen for that one as well! I can accept the mp3 vs lossless thingy...

You mean, Hifi? Right now he's in LaLa Land over his new toy, I'll bet that he can hear a pin drop 30 km away, or he thinks so. :D For now he's in heaven having too good of a time, I wonder how long it'll last? It's like having your first child, being a guy, he didn't have to go through labor, only wait for the arrival.

No I didn't..but it just happens that most of my higher bitrate stuff is 24bit..I don't understand difference between standard 16bit lossless and 24bit either and if there is any sound difference at all, except for the difference in sound when u go up onto higher bitrates for same tracks.
The higher bit-rate is just because of the bigger samples (16 vs. 24 bit). Else, higher sampling rates yield higher bit-rates too, but it doesn't matter as long as it is lossless.

This is for u my friend:

From left to right:

- Blue Circle Audio Peed Al Sea (PLC) Thingee FX2 (4 outlets)
About the PLC Thingee FX2: http://www.bluecircle.com/page86.html

Blue Circle Audio TSPD surge protection module (it says it all..but good thing its not IN the signal..it works in parallel of the signal..and so dont interfere on the signal)

Blue Circle Audio plug-in module X0E low frequency filter with 6x Syllicone filter (with BC61 power cable upgrade)
About the X0E filter: http://www.bluecircle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1684
About the Sillycone filter: http://www.bluecircle.com/page26.html

Hope this explains it a bit my friend...as u can see on my pics i have the last two modules (normally seperated) in ONE pipe to keep the wiring as short as possible and compact as possible, and able to use an upgraded powercable (bc61) to further improve the effect of those two filters.

Have fun reading!

Thanks!

I esp. appreciate your highly technical explanations of each "thingee" :p ;)

I was wondering about this thread.  Thought I might have to order my own BC PaG so we can get some real compare-and-contrast style comments going.  Then my wife whacked me over the head with a frying pan, so everything's back to normal.

How's yer baby breaking in?  Well, I hope.  I love break-in.  My late '50s Bugle Boy D getters are breaking in nicely.  The bass finally decided to make an appearance after 60 hours or so.  To me that's a good thing, as I'm going to tell myself they're really NOS :D

I was still writing it lolz..have to save in between as my beeep ipad clears my imput as soon i open a new tab in my browser..so annoying! So i did it in steps...
But i think u now have all the info u wanted...

For ur info..gilbert wont be making exactly the same amp as mine...thats a fact..lolz..but u can always ask.. biggrin.gif
And it wont be a PaG named either as it stands for: 'Paulo amp made by Gilbert'. Am not kidding!!! As he uses parts of the customers name to come up with something unique as a name..its his special special thingie i understand..

But u can always ask for a thurston special..he can even make an amp in any shape u want (he even made two power amps in two lady pumps! And the preamp in a ladies purse! Just because a customer said he couldnt do it..lolz)

Frying pan huh? Damn..and me thinking portuguese women are deadly..hehehehe but she saved u from ur wallet slapping u even worse..my wallet still hits me like he was bruce lee himself..hehehehe

Bugle boys? Never heard those...but they have a cool name! Knowing u, they must sound good..as u do ur homework well..just like me..

Amp is breaking in just fine...soundstage is still expanding, treble is getting smoother and smoother and more relaxed..and the bass is now getting rounder and better placed..as it should be..i feel the detail starts to open up also more and more...the rest isnt changed a lot..but it was very good already..so i dont expect ot to get even better!

LOL.  Sorry I sold you short, and thanks for completing with the links.  Yeah, stoopid iPad ;-)

Never heard of Bugle Boys?  I'm a little surprised.  Well, these came from Heerlen (a funny little town tucked in that funnier shaped bit of Holland way to the south of you).  There was a Philips joint (i.e., factory) there where they cranked out all sorts of yummy glass, often branded Amperex (a US company they bought, and then had some confusing fun with the name).  I do try to do my research, yes :D

Now I try to get some sleep.
