I've been off the Forum for quite awhile. Mostly depressed since selling the HE90's.

These are my personal tubes bought for use with the Headamp Aristaeus which I sold in 2008.

The Aristaeus will sound amazing with any tubes but it moves to a different level with nice European Tubes- the Siemens ECC83's are detailed with depth and sound stage while the Amperex ECL86's give nice detail. To me all Siemens or all Amperex was too much of a good thing. Mixing the tubes allowed me to bring out the best of each section.

Thank You

The front ECC83 will make the most difference. In no specific order.

Amperex- More Detail

Mullard / Brimar- More Bass

Siemens- More Space

Valvo- More Space and Detail. Sort of a mix between the Amperex and Siemens

Telefunken- Dry they are famous for use in microphone pre-amps.

Sylvania 5751 Gold pins- a gift from God.

When was the Last time you Biased or Check the Tubes in your HEV90? Do you even know what tubes are in your HEV90? The singularly easiest and most dramatic change in sound will be upgrading the ECC83's. Then the ECL86's.

If you don't know you're robbing yourself. Rediscover your gear and upgrade the tubes. I'm confident the tubes will sell themselves- you just have to hear them.

Here's a Matched Quad of Valvo ECL86's from 1960. 3 are labeled Amperex Bugle Boy and one Amperex. They all have the Valvo Codes explicitly identifying the Tube, Tooling and Manufacture Date. They have the original boxes and Test as NOS.

These were Tested on a TV-7 D/U and Screened for Microphonics, Noise and Sound Quality on a Headamp Aristaeus and the 2006 generation of HE90's.

$399 Shipped.

Valvo ECL86:

WS1 D0F 52/38

WS1 D0F 49/39

WS5 D0A 56/38

WS1 D0I 57/38

Test Measurements from 2008:

Original Boxes:

ECL86's with intact labels:

Acid etched Codes- The WS1 is ECL86 tooling style 1, The D is the manufacturer Valvo:

1 tube has the Codes in the Base WS5 D0A- I believe this tube is from January 1960- WS5 ECL86 and Tooling / D (Valvo) / 0 (last digit year of manufacture 1960) / A (Month of Manufacture alphabetically) January.

$399 Delivered. Satisfaction guaranteed to the best of my ability.

About the Tube Measurements:

I tested these for my own personal use so I made every effort for accurate, repeatable measurements. I'm an electronics Technician and have extensive experience with calibration and electronic test equipment. The TV-7 D/U has an analog meter that is 2 increments in resolution, the pointer is 2 increments wide and if you tilt your head parallax adds 2 more units of uncertainty. That's easily a margin of error of 6 or +/ -  3 from any reading. Checking the Zero setting of the Pointer each time also can effect repeatability. How long the tube warms up is another factor to repeatable readings.

Add plus or minus 3 to any of the test measurements and the tubes are identical and far better than anything currently available anywhere.

I have the Largest Supply of Matched ECL86's on Planet Earth. I doubt you can find a real tested quad of ECL86's that are well matched, with listed test measurements and show the actual date codes. None will have been Screened properly for noise and microphonics.

Siemens E83CC Triple Mica $199

The tubes Test as NOS on a TV-7 D/U. They were screened for noise and microphonics on a Headamp Aristaeus.

43/44

43/43

They have the proper Acid Etched Codes. 1 is clearly visible the other is partially obscured:

E ∅

1 =/=

0 K

The E83CC's codes are aligned differently than the normal Siemens tubes.

$199 Delivered Continental USA.

Thanks Mitch
