I am not a musician and know absolutely NOTHING about mixing and recording but.......
......I saw Dave Weckl a year or so ago at an intimate setting...watched him (after set-up) "tune" every piece of his ensemble via computer. He probably took 20-30 minutes sitting there at his kit.
NOW.......for all I know, the truck took a bad turn and toppled all of his stuff and he was making adjustments (LOL...) or maybe he does this before every show?
I love Dave Weckl and want to know about this kinda stuff so maybe someone can enlighten me? Is this common? Assuming there was NOT an actual recording going on and you are at a House of Blues with all the talk and chatter.....who the hell cares how "perfect" the sound is coming off?
Or is that just a typical trait of a master at his craft? Inquiring minds want to know.......
Oh.....and Dave put on a phennomenal show. He's unreal how effortless he plays....and one of the few playing with traditional grip.
