If you're going for a dedicated music computer, you cannot possibly go wrong with an Apple MacBook Pro Retina with lots of flash memory, I have one and it is amazing... then of course there's the massive price tag for the somewhat poor specs...

Not sure if serious, but that's a waste of money for a dedicated music laptop, which doesn't need Retina display or SSD.

I have a 15" MBP and it's awesome. But you're completely correct in that you don't need Retina nor solid state drives for listening to music, however they're both quite useful when it comes down to it, especially the SSD when moving around hundreds of gigabytes of music from time to time.

It's also noteworthy that Macs have better compability with many hi-for products and they're ease of use adds to this.

Waste of money a Mac it is certainly not, but it does come with great opportunity cost, and it's up to the consumer to decide if it's worth it or not smily_headphones1.gif

I'm planning to set-up a sound system using my laptop, since all my music is stored in them. Using Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Andrew Jones Designed Bookshelf Loudspeakers and the SMSL M8 as my headphone amp/dac. Are they compatible to each other? Thanks for your reply.
