Close back headphone with similar sound signature as the Akg K240? - Page 4

Well i think the pair is quite stretched already, since it was the demo. I know i would be giving up a lot if i got On-ear's. Comfort for me is a big deal, i tend to listen to a lot of music. Sometimes 8 h day. Not sure what to do now, i like the sound of the SRH840 but the comfort is a deal breaker for me. I had to adjust the headbands to nearly the max to get them to sit on my head at all.

It would not as stretched as it could be with special stretching course (aka stretching it with its own's box longer side). Alternatively you could try Soundmagic HP100 if you don't mind leaner mid bass hump.

Clamping isn't a permanent problem (though I am surprised you found that on a demo unit). The major problem is the weight of the headband, but you can mod it.

Those would be interesting but cant find any store selling them here. Im not sure if the stretching would fix the clamp as they are almost "flat" on my head. I mean looking at a mirror the headband was mostly bent flat. When i tried the SRH 440 i did not feel they had as much clamp as the SRH 840. I find it very odd since they have very similar structure and build. Unfortunately the SRH440 is nowhere as refined sounding as the SRH840. To be honest, im very disappointed they did not sit/fit on my head. I liked the sound after all.

This is tough.

The use would be semi portable, mostly used when i am in the train and when i need privacy, basically all sort of use.

Next i guess i will try to find Akg K550 somewhere to test, but highly doubt i will be able to find them. I could always call some online shop if they wont mind me ordering and demoing a pair.

Still would be nice to have some options, if anybody knows a headphone with similar sound signature to the Akg K240mkII or the Shure SRH840 for around 150€ - 180€ euros.

Well was looking for headphones and did not find the Akg K550 anywhere. Could not find anything to my liking, tried the Beyerdynamic DT-770 pro 80ohm and i was actually surprised how poorly they isolated. I mean i could hear people talking clearly when i had them on.

Not sure why it is since they should have great isolation. Also the sound signature was too treble and bass happy.

Currently only way to try the Akg K550 is ordering them...

Still hoping for more options.

I wouldn't expect the K550 to have more isolation than the DT770. But it would certainly won't be as bass happy.

I think it could have been bad seal, my ears are large and i think it could have affected the fit so they did not seal as good as they should have. My earlobe usually gets pinned under the ear pads even with over ear headphones. Sometimes this results in a little "gap" and isolation can maybe suffer from it?

Maybe i should stop looking for similar sound signature with the Akg K240mkII and just look for something with fairly Neutral sound signature. Maybe that could give me some more options to choose from.
