How long does your IEM last?

I had the Brainwavz M4 as my first IEM and I love it. After about 1.5 years, the left side goes silent though I treated it with care and always put in the hard case provided :(

I have my friend open it to see what's wrong and it turned out the internal wire that connects the driver are disconnected. It's probably an engineering fault of Brainwavz. I am just curious is it just for me or most IEMs from Chinese can only last for less than 2 years?

That's fine, $50 for 1.5 year is not a bad deal. Now I want to upgrade to another IEM, probably around $150 or even more, which is not a small amount for students like me. I am considering Chinese brands like VSonic/HIFIMan vs more popular ones like Senheiser/Shure/UE. If my IEM is broken after the warranty period, do big companies repair it?

I am currently residing in Singapore.

Run and grab a pair of Vsonic gr 07mkii bass edition but you can't get them anymore. They are simply fantastic for about $130 usd shipped. A great all rounder...

I have considered that model. There is a retail store named lendmeurear in Singapore which sells these ear-buds and I spotted some feedback on their Facebook page about defective GR07. Some were sent to Chinese (under warranty) for several weeks and still no response from the Chinese service center.

I am kinda newbie here so I have no idea how long can a pair of earbud usually last, and whether they can be repaired or just thrown away when becoming defective. How long did your GR07 last?
