If they are anything like the LP2 I won't like them for any genre.

I think the midrange "spike" at the 1k gives it a aggressive property that makes it brighter as does that treble spike at the 10k. If you get rid of that "spike" at the 1k, it definitely is dark and bassy. Or if you use the XL pads, that'll make it dark too.

I haven't heard the LP's or LP2's but from what I read, the m100 is worlds better than both of those.

Maybe in clarity, but they are still V-shaped in the sound signature, and I have never heard a v-shaped sound signature that I like. I like dark headphones.

I uh. I'm not exactly sure what kind of sound you're talking about then. Instead of using words like "v-shaped" and "dark", give a description of how you like the bass/mids/highs to sound and we'll let you know. Because the M100s are v-shaped AND warm/dark.

V-shaped is boosted bass and treble, while lacking in mids.
Dark is a decrease across the whole curve from bass to treble.
Warm is a boost in the low mid range. It seems like the V-Moda's tend warm rather than bright (boosted high-mids), but they are still lacking in mids and have boosted treble.

Nothing can be both v-shaped and dark. You mean warm, not dark.

Basically, I want it to be where the higher the pitch is, the lower the curve is.

U shouldn't buy m100 to replace the HE-300, it's a crap =]] the best v-moda headphone I know is m80 :)

Now my question becomes, why is it a crap headphone?

Most people that dislike them think so due to their v-shaped sound signature.

As above, if you don't want a bass-tilted (not "bass heavy" IMO) headphone, you won't like the M100 at all. The low end is quite prominent on these, so if you prefer more neutral or bright phones they'll sound terrible to you.

That's no reason to call them crap. That's signature bias. Signature != quality.

You don't like bassy headphones, that's understandable...  The OP is looking for a dark headphone that is bassy XD  You may not like many of the suggestions I gave...  Some had more bass than the M-100 (if I remember what I recommended correctly) :p
