thanks a lot! this solved my issues! :)

Hello saaki,
I used to have the time elapsed and remaining time there but I had to take it away for a more minimalistic view. That is why i made the colorful progressbar and the infoscreen.
But maybe I will do a modded wps file for those who want this feature.
Thank you for your positive feedback! I'm happy that someone else likes it.

Why buy this and rockbox if yer losing out on that aspect? Wouldn't u be better off with a rockboxed clip? Or sticking to OF for the HD?

You don't sound like a troll so I give you my reason for using the DX50 instead of clip+: Power! It is no fun using my HD650, K701 or Mad Dog with the Clip but connected to the DX50 it puts a smile on my face :-)

Do you guys find your DX50's freeze from time to time while switching songs? This has happened to me a couple of times and I'm wondering if its common.

Loving both arc-en-ciel and naranjada themes! smily_headphones1.gif

Yeh nah I'm not trolling lol. I am just researching High Res DAPs at the moment looking at features specifically. The X3 was a close contender (as it was on sale for $149) but a poorly implemented Favorites feature and no current Playlist (m3u) support is a deal breaker for me. I have also heard it's buggy, with people having to do daft things for their music to be recognized..

I turned my attention to the DX50 once I heard it was rockboxable (as a major complaint I have heard is stock UI is also a nightmare). But right now I'm not seeing the point in grabbing it if it's major selling point is not supported through RB. (I already own a Fuze+ and clip+/zip, all rockboxed of course).

Do you know if it's on the cards to get RB to support 24/192?

If yer sole reason for using the DX50 is power, then wouldn't it have been cheaper and possibly wiser to buy a dedicated portable amp and connect to the clip+ (you could of chosen a REALLY nice amp for the price of the iBasso)? Or do you prefer to not piggy back devices (which is understandable as I'm not that gung ho for rigs, would prefer dedicated device).

It is not that bad but you have tasted the sweet honey taste of rockbox with your sansas so dont ever expext to be satisfied again with a non rockbox player.

About hirez support of rockbox:i have no idea because i did never care about hirez. Search rockbox forums for that (and let us know)

And about clip with amp: you wete guessing right, i dont like to carry around more than 1 device. I have a iriver h120 that i used to pair with a fiio E17 dac/amp via toslink. But i ended up leaving the E17 at home because it was too complicated for me to keep E17 charged and taking the rubber band and the optical cablr with me.

->so, for you if you dont mind if rockbox port is not yet perfect and to do the work of downsampling your music for the portable player, i think DX50 is a good choice. There are also some more expensive rockbox players on the rockbox page: IHIFI and HiFi E.T . If you want to go the hirez way, you have to think good if you will be happy to use a other UI than rockbox. Maybe Astell/Kern have good UI, i have no idea.

This is why Rockbox never cared for Hi-res files.

The DX50 is an interesting choice if yer not someone who cared about hirez.

Do you mean to say that the rockbox IHIFI and HiFi E.T is fully supporting Hi Res on those two players, just not the DX50?

Yeh that's kinda what I was thinking, therefore unlikely it will ever be support 24/192. But then I'm a little confused, is the HiFi range supported via rb for Hirez, or same situation as DX50? :S

AW: iBasso DX50 + Rockbox finally here (Latest Update: 2014-06-30)

Sorry for the confusion, I think that it is the same situation with all rockbox players that have a DAC that is capable of >48kHz and >16Bit: everything will be down sampled to 44.1/48 kHz (HW dependent) and i think the 8 LSB will be cut off after sound effects (16B, dithered if enabled)

im back to RB lol..im using your current build for 1.5 cholero and the RC2 theme(before naranjada i think)..everything is running smooth..kudos mate

Cheers for clearing that up.

Do you (on a personal note) hear any difference between hi res files and say 320kbps MP3? It's clear to me that you chose DX50 for it's Amp and player all-in-one package, just curious if the hires aspect was a selling point for you (or not)?

You've got me. I'm no audiophile, i think i dont hear the difference between a 320kbps Mp3 and a flac file (but at home I have ~95% of my collection in flac). So no hope for me to hear something above 16kHz or the detail of a 24bit resolution. I don't even think that most of the hi-res buyers (or Neil Young with Pono ;-) ) can hear a difference between a 16/48 and a 24/96 file of the same source. So no, that was no selling point at all,but I like the Wolfson DAC which I know from fiio E17.
And don't get me wrong, I like the new hi-res movement. I'm also checking out the new HD releases to hear if they are mastered better than the previous CD releases. But I downdample them to save space on my HD.

Well said. I concur (and also have 16/44 lossless files at home re-encoded to Lame 320k MP3s for the road).
