What themes can be used with the DX50? Do some have to be created, or can you possibly use some that are already made for other devices?

Also, am I correct in that the biggest advantage to Rockbox is that you have greater control over the UI and that Rockbox changes the sound of the DX50 as well?

You can use any theme as long as they're 320x240 landscape resolution.
I don't think there's anything better about UI in rockbox, it's the features and stability that is much better than the stock FW IMO. And yes it changes the sound of the DX50 (more neutral, and you probably won't keep hearing changes in the sound signature after every rockbox update unlike the stock FW).

Try out the mega sound explosion v1.1 if you haven't!

hello,

I managed to modify some lines of the source code of xzcc's repository to get rid of the annoying "back" action when pressing the power button when display is off. I mean: if you want to see what is playing you automatically went back from WPS to main menu. The other option was to activate "ignoring of the first keypress", but that was not comfortable neighter because when you wanted to change the volume or skip a track, you also had to press this button twice.

So no with my mod it will be: power-button when display off -> display on, nothing more

If anyone is interested I'll link a build on Wednesday if i have enough time. otherwise (what I will do anyway) i will only leave it for xzcc and let him choose if he wants to integrate this for future releases or not (it is not a rockboxish behavior at all)

Hi, I have a problem, my pc/laptop cannot detect my DX50.

i was using rockbox, then i want to uninstall it.

i make some mistake in the step, and now my internal storage is wiped.

i can boot to manggo (still have dual boot, manggo / rockbox, but cant boot to rockbox), but my pc wont detect my dx50.

anyway to copy update.img to dx50 internal storage?

Try these steps:
1) Switch on DX50 and boot to mango
2) Plug DX50 into your computer
3) Turn on your computer

My computer was able to detect my DX50 after these steps. But remember to plug in DX50 (switched on) before turning on your computer.

thanks. i already do those steps. my computer still not recognized dx50. when i connect switched off dx50, there is message about usb not recognized, but when i connect the switched on dx50, there is nothing, no message no mass storage.

after some searching on the internet i think i know the problem. i have to use the usb cable that come with dx50, but i dont know where i put my cable because i move around a lot.

now i remember that i have similar problem back then before installing rockbox.

I am very interested! Please do build and link.

(I have an updated version of my Cabbie Classic theme which works great on the DX50. I compile it in for my own purposes but if you would like to include it, I will send you a link.)

Yes! Please link your build! I'm also wondering if you could link a .zip to flash to make it so I can have rockbox only without dual boot. Many thanks!

He had created a .zip for that (rockbox-only boot) about a couple of months ago. Search for his posts on this thread, the post with the link shouldn't be too hard to find.

EDIT: Actually, here it is: http://www.head-fi.org/t/709855/ibasso-dx50-rockbox-finally-here-latest-update-2014-06-28/735#post_10557268

I've got that... so it will work with the 1.5.0 build?

Here it is:

http://1drv.ms/1x9S6DL

It is called CabbieDX now. It has the crossfeed indicator that I left out of Cabbie Classic - yellow LED for Custom, Red M for Meier Simple. The hard drive access indicator function does not work on DX50; therefore I changed it so that the Rockbox logo now turns orange when Replaygain is activated.

Hmm... I'm not sure. I'm still running rockbox with 1.2.8. Since you're using the 1.5.0 build I'd say stay away from it first until someone confirms that it works.

Ok I will do the builds. I'm still on 1.2.8, so I will first have to update and see if everything works with 1.5.0. I will do 2 zips, one with rockbox only and one with dualboot.

If you are on 1.2.8 and want to try my current build (rockbox only) get it here : https://www.sendspace.com/file/4f195m !!only tested with 1.2.8 and no dualboot!!

Better don't try. It should only work with the older rockbox build (2014-03-25) and maybe not even with the new FW 1.5.0.  But I will make a rockbox only zip.

Thanks for the information but I will not include any additional themes to the zip. Please put all themes to the internal storage (/mnt/sdcard/rockbox/....). They will stay there even after a rockbox-update!

Otherwise I would first include my theme which is the absolute best and coolest and most stylish theme an iBasso has ever seen :D;) : http://themes.rockbox.org/index.php?themeid=2166&target=cowond2

cheers, cholero

edit: all credits for the port go to xzcc! he did all the work.
