Put the update.ing on the internal storage, not the external SD card.

Remove the extenal SD card.

Try starting the update from the original firmware player Settings -> Advanced -> System update.

Try a "wipe data/factory reset". Carefull, they mean it. You will loose all data on internal storage.
Im using stock recovery and I didn't dual-boot. So, the only way to flash an image file that I know of is in the recovery menu from the SD card.

How can you not have dual boot? Was that not a feature of the Rockbox port from the very beginning?

Medmitry port installer doesn't have dual boot. If dual boot doesn't have any major bug I'll try it out tonight.

Dual-boot works great! It has been a feature since the beginning of the DX50 port AFAIK.

Well the Dualboot use the lock switch for boot selector, so no SU settings then? And also should I want to uninstall it can RKBatchtools do the trick?

The main Rockbox port has nothing to do with Sound Unlocked which is a shame. You can use rkbatchtool, but you can also just boot into stock firmware and flash the image files like you normally would.

Hi All,

I have just put Rockbox on my DX50 and it works great but I am having trouble with playlists.

My music is on the external sd card and when I try to create a playlist or add a track to a playlist they don't show up in the playlist catalogue. Do I need to change the path of where the playlist is saved or do I need to do something else?

Playlists are saved on the player in the "playlists" folder, I just create a empty playlist (easier to type in the name of the list on a computer) in m3u8 format and fill it from the player as I listen to songs.

Hi,

I've installed RB and it's working fine but I thought 'modern ui' would work like stock and switch off touchscreen with the power button, but short press on power doesn't seem to do anything. Does it need a setting somewhere...?

Thanks again for all the effort in making this available.

Just wanted to post that I've been using the newest stuff - ArgelErx's cleanup ps18 and the new dualboot patchset 10 for a few days now, and it works perfectly. Completely eliminates those little bumps I was getting at 5 seconds into playback. Everything works really well, and it sounds great. Thanks for the continued work on this!

Ok let me try explain this.

first an expression explanation: WPS = While Playing Screen

Action of "Power" button on DX50 rockbox port:

  • everywhere (except the 2 below) -> cancel  (can be "abort" or "go back/up")
  • in Main Menu -> Resume/Go to WPS  (that used to be part of the modern ui mod but is now official :-)   )
  • in WPS -> go to Main Menu

The difference with "Moder UI" is:

  • in WPS -> Turn off backlight

To go to the main menu from WPS you need to press and hold play button.

The other difference is, that when screen is off, no button will enable backlight except "Power" button. And when Power button is pressed, the current Power Button action (like cancel) is ignored.

I would have liked to extend the "modern ui" mod to one thing: it should jump to WPS when display goes off, no matter where in the menu you are currently. It seemed to me to be not easily implementable

Did you notice that rockbox shuts down properly when you connect USB as mass storage? It does no longer crash, it is a clean shutdown. That is one more optimization that ArgelErx did in the end.

The state cleanup ps18 + dualboot ps10 is pretty much what now is in the official rockbox repository (without the "user configurable partial lock" and "battery log").

Noob question here: what is the " official Rockbox repository"?

It's where the Rockbox source code is held;
