Yes, I was going to suggest including that file with future builds. Just in case anyone besides me ever uses that plugin. I have mine set to just read the root of the internal card and the root of the external drive. There's instructions in the manual about how to edit it further. When you generate the random folder file using the plugin and this txt file, it works pretty well - you still get a few non- music folders, but they're not a problem, they don't play during random folder advance.

@cholero

Great job with the build, very stable so far!

I have a question though, when I scroll my tracks in Rockbox sliding the touchscreen too strongly it says "No File" as if my finger touch is recognized in some strange way.

Don't know if I have explained myself.

Hi Markhio,

great to hear that you like rockbox.

I did not understand exactly what you meant. Where are you when you are sliding and getting the "No File" Message? WPS, file browser, database browser or playlist editor?

And do you have set the touchscreen mode to "3x3" or absolute point?

My touch mode is set to absolute point.

It occurs when I am in Database > Artists.

Thanks for the answer.

I'm not sure but it sounds like it selects (unwanted) an Artist, Album and Track very quickly and then, the file does not exist anymore. Maybe it helps if you generate the datase again: Settings/General Settings/Database/"Initialize Now". It is probably not this, but maby worth a try.

How do I go about deleting rockbox from my ibasso dx50? The player had got into a bit of a state recently (not sure how!), so I downloaded the latest ibasso dx50 firmware, reset to factory settings and player was functioning again. However now I get no sound from any music I try to play - just a high pitched whiney humming sound. Rockbox menu does not seem accessible either, when I tap it on player it wont go to it. The "original" menu is fine however. Basically I just want to try and get the player back to the way it was when it came out the box, and start from scratch so removing Rockbox is where I need to start I guess.

As things stand at the moment the player is useless to me :-)

Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

what always should work:

  1. put the update.img you want to the uSDcard
  2. power off
  3. recovery: power on with holding Vol+
  4. what do you have: "system recovery" or "CWM-based Recovery"? If "system recovery", jump to step 10
  5. download "stock recovery for cwm" by ilia from here
  6. put the zip to your player (internal/external, doesn't matter)
  7. reboot to cwm
  8. flash the "stock recovery" by selecting it (install zip from sdcard / ...)
  9. reboot to recovery, now you should have "system recovery"
  10. select "apply update from SDcard"

Thanks, but for some bizarre reason Rockbox is working now. I'll keep it in mind though in case it happens again

Because all the information has been scattered a little i've tried to put together the information to get 1.6.0 + rockbox with the (almost) latest changes when coming from an older firmware.

Installation instruction for the 1.6.0 FW and the rockbox test build

prerequisites: any stock firmware or 1.5.0/1.2.8 with CWM (by DOC2008). If you have stock Firmware, there is NO need to do the green steps

  1. Download the files:
    a) Firmware 1.6.0+cwm+rbdual
    b) the stock recovery (get it from here)
    c) rockbox-build-zip either
                   i) ArgelErx's cleanup ps4 or
ii) ArgelErx's cleanup ps4 + modern_ui  (sorry, this is my mod and I made you all addicted to it ;-). I used to call it "smartphone UI"
  2. connect your player to the computer to have access to the internal storage
  3. copy the  stock recovery (stock_recovery.zip) to the root of the internal drive of your DX50 (or where you usually put cwm-zips)
  4. copy the update.img (from the dx50_1.6.0_cwm_rb.zip) to the root of your uSD card
  5. backup your rockbox settings: make a copy of the folder "rockbox" on your DX50 drive and rename it to "rockbox_backup" (or whatever name you like)
  6. rename the folder "rockbox" to ".rockbox" (I don't know if this works well on all Operation Systems. If it does not work on your, try next step first (step 7), then copy the content of the "rockbox" folder to the ".rockbox" folder and delete "rockbox" afterwards. You may also need to enable "show hidden files" on your file browser because a folder beginning with a dot is regarded as hidden folder on may Operating Systems)
  7. extract the content of the rockbox-build-zip (rockbox_2014-11-22_DX50_g1043-4.zip) to the internal drive of your DX50 (it contains a single folder ".rockbox"). If the file browser asks questions about merging and overwriting confirm them with "yes", "overwrite" or "merge"

  8. Reboot to cwm: Power off, then power on with holding vol+
  9. Flash stock recovery in cwm:
install zip from sdcard / choose zip from sdcard
  10. reboot to recovery, now you should have "system recovery"
  11. select "apply update from SDcard" -> The Firmware 1.6.0 containing cwm and rockbox dualboot app will be flashed (update.img)
  12. reboot and enjoy

-> to select if you want start Mango or rockbox, you have to set the "lock" switch to "locked" position until the boot selector appears.

Excellent work with Rockbox, thank you for bringing it to the Dx50.

If possible, a dual boot Rockbox/DX50 Sound Unlocked would be the perfect combination.

- copied the update.img into the root

- ectractet the content of the rockbox-build-zip to the root (i had nothing to confirm there...)

- rebooted to recovery - what means now you have "system recovery"?

- i didnt select "apply update from SDcard" - i chose the rockbox image at the screen and than was in the menue...

so what did i do wrong?

can you help me out?

when i press the on button and + i come into a menu called "cwm-based recovery modified by a n....v6.0.3.1

i can choose between

-reboot system now

-install zip from sdcard

-install zip from sideload

-wipe data reset

-wipe cache partition

-backup and restore

-mounts and stroage

-advanced

which one to choose?

can you switch between the rockbox and the standart player?

You did nothing wrong. Everything is installed.
To get the boot selector, you have to leave hold-switch to locked position at boot (until it appears).
