FIIO E18 - Charge Out not Working

Hi,

For FIIO E18 users

I have just recieved my FIIO E18 and have started using it with both Galaxy s3 and S4 running Android 4.3.

the sound is superb I must admit, using AKG K550 headphones.

The problem I have is as follows:

I can't seem to get to Charge Out.

if I have the unit OFF and do the following:

set Mode to Phone In

connect OTG Cable supplied

turn on E18 - to 9

switch to Charge Out mode

I get a click 500ms after switching, (the click comes from inside the E18). it's like a relay setting.

the On lamp goes Red

but the S3 or S4 do not charge.

1 - am I doing the right think?

2 - is the clicking sound expected?

Before anyone asks, yes I have followed the manual, but of course things can get lost in translation

regards

Matt

i usually turn the E18 off, connect the OTG cable and select charge out while its still turned off and then turn the E18 on and i don't seem to have any issues. Switching modes on the E18 once its on and connected to the phone always gives me problems (Not on the E18, but the phone won't charge with its wall charger until i restart the phone) so i made it a habit of not switching modes on the E18 once its on and connected and i haven't had any issues since.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer.

didn't work for me. May be a return to the supplier. I also have a email into FIIO and they are normally very quick at coming back.

1 last question - do you hear the click when changing modes?

hi again,

1 more thing:

when the E18 is OFF, that the switch is past 0, but connected by the OTG Cable to a Phone thats ON, the 3 blue lamps on the E18 remain on! this is when the Mode is Phone IN.

H was flashing for a while, as if it's charging from the Phone

any thoughts?

thank yo.

Happen to me as well, I just turn it off move the switch around and back to phone in and turn it on and it's fine. I think that happens if the switch goes into dac, the first position, by accident even a little.

Matt, most likely you got your problem fixed by now. Just checking back to see how things turned out. Also, very interested in your setup, I have just about the same.  I have a Note 3, and I have AKG K550 headphones on the way. Running a Note 3, with KK 4.4.2 and a Note 10.1 2014 with KK ??. But, I am getting ready to order the Fiio E18..

Chiming in here - I'm also having this problem with a Rev. B E18 that I just got. It's fully charged, and I've tried using it to charge 3 different Galaxy Nexus handsets now, to no avail (so I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with the USB ports on the device side).

Same thing, it won't charge my Ipod Touch 5g.

Has anyone tried using the lightning to micro usb adapter with the fiio e18 to charge your idevice?

Yea. I think you can try jailbreaking it, it's either software or it doesn't put out enough power
post #11 of 18
So it didn't work for you? I'm jailbroken but can't find anything in cydia.

Also it would seem that the my iphone 5 loses battery life alot faster when using it with fiio e18. I have it connected via camera connect kit(lightning version) anyway to make it use its own battery life.
I don't have the adapter but I thought I read someone recently ordering it but it didn't work.

Okay so for anyone in the future reading the micro usb to lightning adapter does work!!! Now i can charge my iPhone with the e18.
This is the setup: e18 to [micro to micro](comes with the e18) to micro to lightning adapter to iPhone. THIS IS FOR CHARGING ONLY. You still need the camera connect kit(theirs a lightning version as well) to listen to music. Also when i got my e18 their was two micro to micro cables in the box. Don't know if they're different but only one of them charges my iPhone.

Hi,

Did you ever overcome your issue with your fiio e18 not charging yr phone?

Mine doesn't either except..... If I connect the E18 to a charger and the connect the OTG cable between phone and E18 with chrg out selected...

Will contact James at Fiio again I think.
