Hello,

I'm a newbie....

To begin with let me say Thank you for the wonderful words of wisdom I could read across the forums.

Would appreciate you to help me pick Over ear headphones around 150 Pounds.

I would need this for pure listening experience.I'm no basshead.Decent bass is ok.

Sound quality and details are utmost important - not sure if you could say this is Neutral.

I generally listen to a lot of genres including Hard Rock/Pop/Classical/Instrumentals/Trance/Jazz/blah blah....

I' need isolation as might use this at work.

Portability is bonus.

I'm planning to add some amp at later stage.

After reading a lot of stuff around here I found a list :

1. GM 8.35 : Great review. Some reviews say its a little Dark. Not suitable for Classical/Jazz etc.

2. Soundmagic HP100 : Great reviews. Not sure about the durabilty and quality.

3. HD 598

4. Yamaha MTT20

5. V Moda M 100

6. DT 770 : not sure about 80/250 Ohms.

P.S : From the list V moda is beyond 150 Pounds.

Thanks

The hd598is open , so zero isolation.
The vmoda is bass heavy
The dt770 has relatively recessed mids, but are excellent otherwise.

You should look into shure headphones.

If the brainwavz hm5 is a clone of the Fischer audio fa 003, then its also worth looking into. (I don't know)

Thanks, I read lot of praises for Shure 840(129 Pounds), but reviews put HP100 as a better option.

btw...i'm getting a combo of HM5 + E17 for $200 from mp4nation.

I don't know anything about the soundmagics unfortunately.

That sounds like a good deal.

I'd go for the SoundMAGIC's, I've heard that the build quality from the GMs aren't that good. In comparison, the SoundMAGIC's only have easily scuffed outside shells and a coiled cable.
