I am a newbie so bare with me here.  I just purchased an external dac/amp and need to figure out how to equalize the sound.

Anyone able to help me?

if you are using a computer for it you can use a software eq. like in foobar or jriver. if you want a external eq alesis makes good ones. you can get them at guitar center or sam ash. I don't recommend that though. you are adding something to the signal chain. the alesis is a software eq anyways. it is a hardware device based on software. hopefully you are using a computer. than you can just use a software eq which is best. many people feel it is best not to use an eq. just make the sound the way you like it is all that matters.

Thanks for the reply.  I am using my laptop and need to tweak the sound.  Why does the Windows EQ not work?

the windows eq should work fine. you can be having any number of windows related issues. I can't really help you there. I would recommend just download foobar for free and learn how to use it.
