Looking for very accurate, over ear, studio headphones that don't lack bass

Hi,

So the title says what I need help looking for.

I own a pair of AKG Q701s. They're comfortable and sound great in the mids and highs, but seriously lack bass. When I'm producing music with them, I feel like I have no idea what's going on with the bass. I've seen that there's a modification for them to add some low end, but how effective really is it?

I also own a pair of V-Moda LP Crossfades. They're EXTREMELY bass heavy, but not as comfortable and definitely not anywhere close to accurate.

I don't have a headphone amp, but I do have a DJ controller (the Numark 4Trak) which has a built in sound card which can go roughly 3x louder than I would ever need. Would getting a real headphone amp help with bass/sound quality?

I don't have a preference over closed back or open back. Looks also aren't a huge factor, but I'm more likely to buy something that's better looking vs something that's ugly (obviously).

I'm willing to spend quite a bit, possibly close to $500 if the headphones are seriously worth it.

Thanks in advance!

Probably the newish HP50 or maybe the Focals. I haven't gotten round to trying them yet.
