Hello,
This Pleune seems to be very interesseting. I also hesitate with DX90, AP100...wich are less expensive.
I listened the AK120 II and i loved the SQ but the maximum level out wasn't enough for my use. Do you know if this Plenue can play louder than the AK 120 II ? I have read that the line out was 2 Volt so i corespond to 125 mw for 32 ohms. It seems less confortable tha a dx90..
And second question.. i use Eq user and in the AK120 II, when you use the Eq user and you put up some frequencies, the level turn down (to compensate, i think..) so the max level possible is not anymore 125 mw but around a half...  This is not the case with Rocjbox for example.
In the Plenue, can you tell me if the sound goes down when you make +3 or +6db at high frequencies bands for example in user Eq .. I hope i am clear to be understood...

Am I the only one who feels that the hardware skip buttons are backwards?  Pushing the one that corresponds with volume up skips back, pushing the one that corresponds with volume down skips forward.

Interesting issue as our sense of the directionality of time lines linguistically anyway in horizontal and vertical mode are culturally determined. I suppose it also depends on positioning of buttons and I assume higher volume is vertically above lower volume which is underneath it. The
direction going from bottom to top may suggest going forwards to some cultures, and the opposite to other cultures of language groups. This is a well researched issue in linguistics.

Personally lower volume would seem like going backwards to me and vice versa higher volume forwards. I haven't seen owned a Plenue but on my Cowon physical volume buttons on the side are placed like this down is lower and up is higher but they do not control tracking.

Can someone please give me a quick comparison with Calyx M and P1. Need to make a decision before I get the P1. Also some brief impressions on where the DAP stands.

I owned both simultaneously for a spell. The Calyx M has a generally more aggressive sound than the Plenue which comes across as more sedate and polite by comparison. The Calyx feels a bit wider and more open in its sound staging, whereas the the Plenue is more intimate and focused on directional accuracy. I don't feel like there's any gulf in SQ between the two, and the differences are subtle to me. The UI on the Plenue is great IMO. It's VERY responsive and it cold boots in an astonishing 7 seconds. So from power on, you're up and running in no time flat. The Calyx is much laggier in comparison. Battery life on the Plenue is better than the Calyx. The M only ever seems to last about 5/5.5 hours on a charge whereas I got about 7-8 on the Plenue. The Plenue's form factor is very nice. It's roughly twice as thick as the iPhone 5, and a little shorter. It feels very nice and solid in the hand. The Calyx is rather huge and unwieldy. The screen on the Calyx is far nicer than the Plenue; higher in resolution, contrast and brightness. The Plenue's screen looks washed out and slightly low res in this post Retina world.

Thank you for the information. As far as I have heard Calyx M has more power than P1. I am planning to get Roxanne which is hard to drive and P1 struggles to drive them.

I felt the same too. Either very inactive thread or the item is not worth the price.

I tried it here , someone i met at jaben have it. Its not like most other player, all i can get from it , is that they tried to make a funner sounding calyx m

and I think its better than the calyx with a 7 hour instead of 5 hour calyx battery and funner and more quality bass sound

I'm not sure if this is a bad thing to say or a good thing.....

There have been reports that the k10 is neutral..... I never really thought that to be the case, as I have used a cowon j3 for several years, tethered to a portable amp. When a song had some hard hitting low bass, the j3 amp combo would deliver some teeth quivering bass....

But with the p1, the bass is present but it certainly isn't something u "key into" instead the k10 behave like hi end studio quality monitors, massively balanced nothing being accentuated over the other. I run it in flat mode, haven't bothered with fake bass modes.

Would I sell the p1 and stay with the j3.?

I don't think I would.

the j3 will remain as a daily driver.... The p1 will stay in the lab
