Using a subwoofer with headphones, is it a bad idea? - Page 2

I think EQ can probably fix what I dislike about the DT990s and I'm dissappointed to find no comparisons on them vs the MA900. I'm tempted to buy a pair just for comparison's sake :D . I still think the MA900 will have superior quality bass, based on some review-comparison things I've read. And yeah, I think I'll put the subwoofer thing aside. My original intent was to see if anyone has experimented with the concept, more so than convincing myself I wanted to try it --- but getting carried away with ideas is pretty easy to do. c:

Not at all... I have heard about K1000 users doing this to fill in for the bass shy-ness.  I am not sure the specifics though like crossover freqs, room treatment/acoustics...etc.  IIRC it was generally done with garden variety home theater subs, and the K1K was allowed to naturally roll off.  I could envision it working very well, especially in the subharmonic lower octaves that are as much pressure level differences being "felt" as much as heard.

There are many other alternatives to the MA900 if bass is what one is looking for. If you have not demoed many headphones in that ~ $200 price range, that's the first step. See if there is a GTG in your area.

Byrnie: I'm not happy with you for having that "want" list in your sig. I looked at that list, and it made me start wanting other stuff. It's not nice to promote upgraditis. (lol)

Lol don't hate.  I actually just sold two pairs of headphones over the last week so I can get closer to getting the TH900s.

I purposely do not read reviews for headphones like that one so I don't want it. (hehe)
