Audeze headphones tend to make all gear sound good. Take that as you will.

Perhaps Audeze is taking a cue from Beats marketing tactics...

Well, Audeze are also in CA, as well as many of the vendors, but IIRC Audeze did lend some cans to one or another vendors so that was all they had. Regardless, a lot of people want to know if gear will drive high-end planars well. I tend to bring very fast, dynamic music to meets now for this reason. The Mjolnir was on quite a few tables too, so was almost as equally ubiquitous.

@mikemercer The WyWires table had two Lampizator DACs on it and sounded great. I tried his Audeze cable on all but the LCD-2 and I found it best on the LCD-3 and LCD-X. I felt it was a bit much on the LCD-XC.

AWESOME to hear @Currawong !!

My friends at WyWires (Alex and Nina) came to me late last year and wanted to get into the headphone cable game. They were established in the high end for all sorts of signal cables - everything from digital and analog interconnects to speaker cables...

But they didnt know anything about the headphone community - but they wanted to learn about it.

They loved the energy of a couple of Meets they attended, as well as CanJam.

So in the beginning I helped them by giving my feedback on the first two prototypes (they didn't have headphone rigs)

- which I voiced using my LCD-3 and LCD-X!!!! I didn't have the LCD-XC yet - so I didn't get a chance to try the cable on those.

Then Alex (at Wywires) got his own headphones and amp/DACs. So they continued the work - AND I didn't want to be more deeply involved

than that - as I wouldn't be able to speak about the cable! Conflict of interest.

But I'm SO glad to hear you dug it on the LCD-3 and LCD-X!!!!

I'm getting a set of the final cables this week.

I've been using the prototypes at home.

THANKS for saying so Dean!

His cables are still a vital part of my personal audio arsenal - and I think about him all the time as I have various Locus Design and Cryoparts stuff

in the Sonic Satori Personal Audio Lab!!

Headphones I covet - a system: Sennheiser Orpheus!!!!

I was supposed to be at the Meet.

But I couldn't do to my wifes declining health.

But, so you don't think they just handed them out:

A few vendors came to me (as I helped promote the Meet - @warrenpchi and @third_eye are my friends and co-Audio360ers) and asked my opinion about who's cans they should use -

because I had their amps and more access to headphones than they had in their offices/workshops.

I ended up recommending Audeze and Sennheiser in most cases...

and I know at least two of them hadn't heard the Audeze cans before the Meet - they just put their trust in me and a friend.

So that's why somebody may have had the Audeze cans at their booth but didn't know about their sound...

FULL disclosure - -I never consider anything less with you guys.

I just wanted those vendors to have the best show possible.

Next step, provide an lcd-x to every attendee of the show , so they enjoy the most of the show with their lcd-x on the head!

:o2smile:

reading this, I thought about silent discos - and the fact that they're going to have one at AXPONA (so wrong its CRAZY, just

NOT the right venue for a silent disco - unless someone's plugged into the underground house scene in Chicago - then a rave

will come along with Sennheiser).

WE should have one at the next LA Head-Fi Meet!!!!

For those of you who haven't experienced it:

It's pretty f______in cool. We could ask and see if Reid Speed can play (Alex Rosson's wife - she's an amazing DJ - I use to dance

all night to her playing in NYC back in the day - now she pays to 30k people arenas) or there are TONS of great DJs in LA!!  The cool

thing about Reid is shes a mean drum-n-bass DJ!!!!

I think that would be pretty dope at a Meet.

Thoughts????

I've been looking for lighter cables for my HD800 so I took a chance on the Wywires too. They looked like they will fit the bill, will report after break in. Should arrive this week:)

It was only one Lampizator DAC. The second box was the tube regulated power supply. Killer DAC BTW especially after I replaced the stock Phillips 12AU7's with NOS Mullards!

The E.A.R. headphone station sounded great. I was digging the HP-4 amp and especially had fun listening to the LCD-X phones, with both stock cable and WyWires new headphone cable. They had 2 sets of phones, one with each cable for easy comparison. The difference between the two was not subtle and very impressive.
