Need help choosing a pair of inexpensive, portable, closed back, over-ear headphones. Mostly for jazz, gospel, latin, and movie soundtracks (orchestral). Right now my setup is htc one+monoprice 8323 and I think it's great but I want to upgrade. I want to get a used pa2v2 ($40)(will double amping cause distortion?) and some headphones but I don't know which to get. I've been looking at the koss dj pro100 and the nvx xpt100(I heard these aren't very portable). Budget is $80 (poor college student living in New York haha)

How well do these isolate? First time I've heard of these. I'll be using these headphones in NYC subways so they HAVE to isolate well.

Soft Comfort & Noise Isolation

"Each pair of Mikros 90 on-ear headphones include soft replaceable ear pads that provide a snug fit which isolates up to 92.05% of ambient noise and provides outstanding sound quality with natural deep, extended bass and an open, revealing midrange. A 90-degree gold-plated plug and simple, yet durable, black rubberized cord dampen and isolate noise that can be transmitted through contact and movement, transmitting the most subtle nuances of recorded sound—and nothing else."

It doesnt isolate like a Bose noise cancelling of cos...but with the pop music on, its good enuf for me.

I was going to suggest the JVC HA S-400/500/680, but the Micros is a better idea for you...

Thanks a lot. But that %92 isolation seems like a very bold(and possibly false) claim. I'm looking around for somewhere to audition these.
