How to measure Headphone Jack impedance on Smartphone or portable Amp

Thread Starter

Hello fellow Head-Fiers

I got pretty much interested in the Shure SE846, but since it has only 9 ohm impedance I wanted to check output impedance on my sources first.

Couldn't find any information on my Smartphone :LG G2, so I wanted to check it myself.

On my portable DAC/AMP I found this:

GAIN Control 2 Level Output impedance <0.3Ω (from http://fiio.net/news/index.aspx?ID=100000128869812&page=1)

Since the Shure SE846 has only 9 ohm impedance, a headphone jack impedance lower then 1 ohm is optimal.

Does someone know where I can find Headphone Jack impedance for the LG G2, or how I could possibly measure it?

Thanks

I think the term you mean is output impedance. I've searched a bit on google, but couldn't find anything for that device. If I had to guess, I'd say the output impedance of that device is probably greater than 1 ohm. But, I don't know for sure. Have you tried contacting the company that made the phone? They might be able to help.

My limited understanding on it is it's not as simple as putting a multi-meter to it. You'll need some resistors as well.

Yeah this is what I've understood to be true as well.
