IEMs under $40

Thread Starter

I've been a lurker for a long time and have found the reviews and information provided on head-fi to be incredibly helpful. I know I've come across, literally dozens of threads of this nature, but each seems to result in different recommendations. I've read the "Multi-IEM Review" and it seems slightly overwhelming. Mainly, I am looking for a decent pair of IEMs that I can comfortably wear in public, with disturbing people around me. For headphones, I currently have a pair of AKG 701s and ATH-AD700s and Grado SR60's. In the past I've had MEElectronics CW31s and Sennheiser CX300s. Overall, I tend to like the sound of open-back headphones with a slightly warmer sound signature, the CW31s delivered well on this regard, but the build quality was unfortunately poor. Genre-wise I tend to listen to mostly light rock, indie, acoustic and jazz types of music. I am lost at the myriads of choices that are available to me. Input from those who are more knowledgeable than I would be much appreciated.

Ps. Source will be Ipod Video 5.5 gen, SGS III

It's a bit of an oddball, but look into the Urbanears Kransen. They come in great colors too. For a little more bass on a budget try the HAFX1X's.

My first IEM's were the HAFX1X's and I would like to think they are the best at the price point.

According to the reviews, these headphones appear to be a steal for the price. Although so far I am only able to find them on ebay and they won't get here till April.

Try this link. http://goo.gl/wpWRK5 For me it says shipping is about 2-3 weeks. Although I'm not a big fan of ebay.

Do visit the Pistons2 thread.
Many users share where they purchased their legit iems. Not limited to eBay
