Thanks to everyone for all the great info and heads up about the attractive price tag!

Does anyone knows how much Tenso charge to ship such a small package to the USA, approximately?

God, I really wish it sounds like a D7K!!! I sold mine a couple years ago because it was just too heavy for me : ( I've dearly missed the sound, that's for sure.

I like them better than the unmodded Denon 5000s I had. With the open back mod I would say they were more similar sounding. But the Denons has peakier treble. From what I can recall I'd say I still prefer how the FX850s sound overall. I'm using a silver LOD with the 850s and that helps to further bring the bass quantity to my liking, while adding a bit more treble sparkle up top. The treble on the 850s is definitely smoother and a bit more relaxed than it was on the FX700s, but in a good way.

Recently tested out the JVC dx2000...

its got that thickrichmellowtautness to it, like a well behaved d7k,

hope this fx850 sings along the same line.

That was fast. Tenso verified my ID in less than an hour. Shipment underway. Can't wait for these beauties.

Looks like I'll be making a cable for their arrival. Probably try out some PlusSound SPC to start.

how much is a silver LOD cable if I may ask? (I want bass, as close to 7000 as possible)

It depends. I had bought mine a few years back. I paid about $100.00 at the time. Honestly never was impressed with it until now. With most of my pairing in the past it increased treble too much and leaned bass out too much, while making the mids a bit distant. But on this pairing it works quite well on my AK120 S-mod. It also works well with my SE5.

SE5!!! I bet any cable sounds great with the SE5!

I like how the gold cable pairs on the SE5. Makes the sound staging more 3D and more depth to the sound where the SE5 really excels at. Overall I think it makes them more musical and natural sounding.

I'm holding off.  I need isolation.  I did read a post that sombody got rid of K3003 and W4R for these??  I'm not sure if these will any sort of upgrade to my 1963V3.  I did own TG334 awhile so, I doubt that this can match those.  If it does, then I would be interested, but these are dynamic.  Uhhh.... decisions.

I need isolation most importantly since I'll spend my time out an about with iems.

Personally I prefer these to the 334s. The 334s bass was slower and due to that and the narrow sound staging I felt things were a bit congested on the 334. The FX850s on the other hand are quite spacious sounding. Both IEMs are bass heavy though. The 334s mids are more forward and intimate. But the FX850s mids are also a bit forward. The 850s sound much more natural and realistic IMO. Especially in instruments. The tonality is where it is at.

Basically their approaches on sound are quite different. If you want a lusher and more intimate sound (especially in the mids) the 334 is the better choice. If you are after a spacious and rich sound with excellent timbre then the FX850s are a good choice.
