$236CN shipped for 750 and $373CN shipped for the 850. Yup, I'm interested in the 750's too! :)

Cost was a factor for myself, though being able to change the cable if any issue arises (or just for enhanced sound) is a big + for the 850. Right now needed a new daily driver and want to get a recable for my Shures, I think you'll be quite happy with either.

I've had more than a few folks staring at the chunks of wood sticking out of my ear already :-P

you ended up with the 750s though, which is much nicer in size. beside the housing of the 850 the replaceable cable is also very big at the plug. still not H3 big but big enough.

my curiosity is about the sound difference between them

Yup, I'm interested in the SQ differences as well. I'd like a replaceable cable as well, but not for $140 extra! James had some good impressions of the differences in SQ - will have to find them...

Here's james444's comparison between FX750 and FX850.

Indeed and very happy with my choice. If you didn't see the posts from James444, I had quoted them for another user on Page 41. As he is the only one I know, who's had all three units to test. I know on this thread or another, there had also been some translated reviews from a Japanese site mentioning how close the 7 and 850s were.

Yes, his impressions were short and a bit vague. the only diff i have read are the mids being a tad lower with a tad more midbass... what about the rest?

other sites with comarisons sound good.... i found one (hifi-forum) that said the 750 had more foward midds and more bass kick, while the 850s were more "rounded"

seemingly pretty close performance wise, 750s seem to be winners... i still would like to hear more as there is a little discrepancy about the midds

Woodies abound! I kind of did a spontaneous Beyer T51P purchase over the weekend, so I'll probably have to cool my jets for a while (and start selling off some stuff). Also, the Ostrich birds are kinda doing it for me at the moment. But, I definitely still have a woodie for those woodies, so it's only a matter of time!

Isn't the T51p like $250? That's already a huge chunk towards the FX850s! Add a little more and you'd have enough for the 750 even.
