To me, yes. But that's due to personal preference and doesn't mean you'll feel the same way. For example, even though their sound signatures share some similarities, the TF10 are closed / isolating and the FX850 vented. I live in quiet surroundings and love the JVC's open soundstage, but if you need to listen in a noisy environment, the TF10 are easily the better choice.

I'm not sure what's a good price for a used pair which is why I'm asking here. I've seen other users mention paying anywhere from $150 - $180 so I'd like to stay in that range (including fees and shipping).

FWIW, another head-fier asked me to rate the FX750 vs. FX850 vs. FX1100, bass, mids, treble, unmodded and modded. Here's my reply:

Thanks james. I ended up buying the IM03 and SM3 instead, but I might get the JVC's too if i have the money...:)

What setup is that? I have an E17 and plan to purchase some FX850 soon. Meanwhile i still enjoy my TF10 w/E17 combo. Just want to try some dynamic IEM for a change.

Dunu DN2KJ are a lot more linear and leaner sounding, FX850 (stock) have much more bass and are more v-shaped. Treble is forward on both, slightly smoother on the FX850 and sharper on the DN2KJ.

Even when modded, the FX850 retain their rather fun and dynamic sound signature, whereas the DN2KJ are a perfect example of analytical IEMs in my book.
