Through the DX90 they are my end game.  I am now wondering if I should have order both the Truth edition and base edition instead of the FX850 and FAD Heaven VI, both of which I have not heard yet, but I am already thinking they might not measure up to the Ditas.  I never really like my IE80's no matter what source I tried them with as the drums always seems bloated and not very clear.

My Heaven VI's should be here tomorrow, and my FX850's should be here by Monday so I will see how they measure up once they are all broken in.

Well, I hope the FX850's live up to expectations for you and that they turn out to be a great IEM:)

I actually liked my IE8's better than my IE80s' - it was the soundstage. I had the bass switch just of the minimum - the bass was too boomy IMHO at any higher level. I liked playing my older rock and roll recordings from the 60's/70's/80's though them - I know better now, but they were the definition of fun - if I had a better recording, or wanted it really punchy, I'd use the TF10's.... We'll see about the 850's - I almost pulled the trigger on the old JVC 700's a few times over the years - but wanted something that was proficient at all frequencies - not bury the mids - I think the 850 will pull that off.

Ok what headphone out there sounds like the JVC 850 but with more integrated bass?

Agreed, I have the bass turned down to the minimum as well and still find it too boomy.  I hardly ever used my IE80's,  I had used full sized portables instead until I got my SE-846, then I realized how good IEMs could actually sound... Now I'm becoming addicted to IEMs lol.

It gives vocals even more clarity and tightens the bass up some so that it's not as thick sounding as with the stock cable. Treble seems to be brighter and the over signature is a bit airier, yet a bit more forward. It fits the FX850 perfectly, but the color of the cable makes the earphone a bit more flashy out in public. And it doesn't have a strain relief, but it doesn't swing around too much hanging  straight down or over the ears. It works better than the TE-05 cable. A nice alternative cable that's not too expensive.

Eric - is the Onkyo cable you are mentioning the one that comes with the CTI300S? Does it have iPod controls?

This one?

That's the one, but mine didn't have iPod controls. I've moved to the Fiio upgrade cable though. I like that one better.

Thanks - the headphones are like $149 - not worth it for the cable - although they have an Amazon "used-like new" pair for $65 - that might be worth it...:D

What did you think of the Onkyos?

The FiiO better than the Fostex cable as well? Outside of price I mean.

Anyone get their 850's by EMS from Japan? I am tracking mine and wondering if the last entry is the final one in Japan and it is on the way to the states... One could hope....

The "dispatch from outward office" was a little over an hour ago.... I was told 1-3 days delivery... be nice if it was on the plane :D

Looks like they are on board ready to take off.

I can't believe I caught myself earlier reading about the Dita Truth when I am perfectly happy with the FX850

The only truth is I either need to call Headgear anonymous hotline or add Headfi in my parental filter settings ASAP

The Fostex cable doesn't work well with the FX850 at all.
