Best IEMs with Slight Low-End Emphasis for Bass Player/Rapper >$400

Hi All,

I am a bass player, rapper, and FOH engineer working on a college student budget, and I am interested into upgrading IEMs. I currently own a Shure's SE-215s, and I would like to improve from there. As a bass player and rapper I would like to get ears with a slight bias on low end, without straying too far from reference levels to assist my work as a FOH engineer.

If possible, I would like to stay around/below $400. If I can get a quality custom molded ear for around that price, I may prefer that option, but universals would also be acceptable.

I would also be open to looking into purchasing used gear if that would be recommended. How difficult/expensive would it be to have used customs remolded?

Thanks again for your help; I have lurked this forum for a few weeks now, and thought it would be appropriate for finally join!

I don't have that much experience with iems, but I did tons of research that led me to purchase the um pro 30. The best I can recommend for you is the shure se535, westone um pro 30, and the earsonics sm64. They all have slightly elevated bass.

Check out the klipsch X10. It should still be going for around $170 on Amazon.

Also, you could try asking the thread starters of both of these threads.

They've owned and heard many iems, unlike me.

As for the klipsch x10, everything I've read about it says its too colored to be reference.

Thanks for the response, guys.

I'll look into the mid-level Shure series. I currently use the SE-215s on stage, so I'm familiar with and I enjoy that product line.
