While the actual impressions that are made by the audiologist do block out a lot of sound, i'm not sure they would work if reinserted, and if they did the longevity of them probably wouldn't be all that great.  However, some of the companies that make custom IEM's, Aurisonics included, also make custom molded hearing protection.  These are very affordable, at least I think so, especially if you are exposed to extreme noise levels often.

Oh, I wasn't clear.  I know the actual impressions can't be used for this.

It was custom-hearing protection that I was wondering about.  I've always been intrigued by the idea of V-moda faders, but never made the purchase.

I'm so fired up about the line up:

HE-6

Grado RS1 and 1000

Denon 2000, 5000, and 7000

Emotive DAC/Amp and Little Dot

LCD-X

Many others I have never heard before

If any interest I'll pack up and bring the OPPO BDP-105 USB/Coaxil/Balanced/Optical, little bit more of a hassle to bring in but a seriously nice source pairs well with the Meier gear.

I know how you feel.  A lot of these I have heard siblings to them, but not these models themselves, and some I've never heard at all.

I have been eyeing the OPPO lineup recently, and they are very attractive.  If only I could justify upgrading from my Pioneer Elite unit.  When it goes the way of the landline telephone I most likely will pick one up.  I would hate to burden you with bringing even more, as you have already listed a great deal of items that you would be bringing......but you won't hear me say, please don't bring it, lol.

I am beginning to become worried about blowing some fuses with all of this gear we are going to have hooked up, haha.

Ok, with the everything coming together, and an ever growing attendance I would hate to not have this event properly documented.  So, I'm wondering if we have any pro / semi-pro / avid hobbyist photographers in our ranks?  I could just purchase a new camera, and do it and the event no justice with my photographing skills.  My thoughts are why not let you fine members get more involved.

So if you have the interest and would like to document history in the making, I would love to have your skills put to use.

Just to let you guys know another vendor has let me know that they are planning to attend given some other things pan out.

Aurisonics, audiologists, Beezar, and maybe Headamp (c'mon Justin!!!! )?? This is really shaping up to be a heck of a meet!! Also, Frank Berryman of ultrahighendreview.com will be showing up to see just what all the fuss is about ;).

MAJOR kudos to Shawn for pulling this all together... There were a bunch of us (obviously) who were really interested in making this happen, and Shawn was the one who actually stepped up to the plate to make it a reality. I guess I'll have to add him to the list of people I owe a beer... Probably ought to just buy a keg at this point :P

Randy, if Justin ends up coming too (NO PRESSURE, JUSTIN.... ), I think he has an Oppo he likes to bring as a source, so that might account for one. Couldn't hurt to have another one, depending on how much it costs you in Aleve and ibuprofen to pull it out and schlepp it ;).

Woo-HOOO!!! Gettin' excited!!!!!

EDIT: @jaywillin-- I thought you had the PS500, but just saw that you no longer do... Imagine a solitary tear rolling down my disappointed cheek at the thought that we might not have that baby there to listen to. You should pull strings within the Grado Brotherhood and see if somebody'll send theirs down for the betterment of the community... (he said, pretty much just because he's always wanted to hear a PS500). :)

SWEEEEEEET!!! I've been wanting to meet that guy anyway-- he and I have chatted on the Daccord thread for a while. Really good dude. And having the PS500 there to listen to would just be the icing on the cake ;).

So much good stuff happening.  I have no doubt that all of us are going to get along just fine.  I can't wait for the event, makes me wish it was closer to May already.

I would have been on here earlier, but my new project guitar just arrived and I spent some looking it over.  It's a monoprice house brand solid body "stratocaster" style.  Got it for about $100. And I have to say, for the price it has a very solid feel to it.  I bought some new pickups, pots, caps, and switchcraft plug for it, and I'm going to rewire it all in with Canare Starquad 4S6 and Cardas silver solder. Oh and obviously new strings for it.  I need to get a new wire nut for it as well, but will have to take it to a luthier to get it done properly.

On a sad note, I emailed U-Turn Audio to check to see if they could guarantee I would get a turntable in time for the meet, and they said as of now they cant guarantee any delivery dates.  So I will see if I can find myself some new gear to purchase and bring instead.  Figuring out what will be the difficult part.

but fun

Too bad about the turntable... But who knows, maybe they're just very adamantly an "underpromise and overdeliver" type of company and you'll have it in time for the meet! Here's hoping anyway ;).

Also wish Tyll could come... I don't always agree with his tastes (I like treble more than he does, it seems), but man, it's hard not to admire that guy for the insane amounts of knowledge he has and the incredible impact he's had on the headphone and personal audio communities. Hey, maybe he'll change his mind... I wanna shake that guy's hand some day.

Also, if anyone encounters noobs in other threads that are looking for advice about this vs that headphone or whatever, if they are within reasonable driving distance to Nashville, please inform them of the meet-- there's just no better way on the planet to learn more about your tastes and what headphones sound like than to actually listen to them. And barring having a set in your own home, listening at a meet or dealer is generally your best bet. We'll be noob friendly, I promise*!!

*The term "noob friendly" here used to include swirlies, noogies, atomic wedgies and injun burns, of course**.

**The above statements are wholly in jest. Of course we aren't going to do awful things to new peeps. Except for give them Head-Fi prison tattoos-- that is definitely going to happen.

I've got some guitar string and an old electric razor motor for just that.
