No amp required, the ultrasone proline has a really low impedance, you can drive them off an iPhone or similar...

Oh, I thought "over-ear" was the same as "on-ear" or "supraural," which is what most manufacturers use to describe a headphone that sits on the ears. Earpads that go around the ears are in technical terms "circumaural."
In that case you might want to look into the AKG K550, but instead of buying an amp, you might want to save up for a portable player like the Ibasso DX50 or Fiio X3. No baller IDs or velcro bumpers to strap two devices together, and yet they still have a lot more power than a lot of cheaper portable amps. Sure, you might want to get a powerbank, but you probably already have one for your smartphone anyway (or get a bigger one), and you don't need it permanently strapped on to the player. The sound is a little thin but I'd err on that side compared to, say, a bit too much bass on the Philips X1. You can try it with just the Clip for now, no need to rush into getting the portable players, given I think you'd need to read up on how to properly tag the files so they'll work properly. I tag mine using MediaMonkey, and a spare SD card I had worked properly on both, but then again I only used browse mode (looking into each folder as they are in the SD card) since I'm used to standing up and getting a CD from the shelf anyway.
