Introducing Myself/Asking Recommendations

Hey there you sexy people of Head-Fi, I've been creeping this site for quite a while and finally decided to stop being a lazy tool and make an account. I would say I'm an "Audiophile in his beginning stages"? Since I've been checking this site it has become my #1 stop for reviews when they are available, and I've also found myself becoming a good bit more stingy about headphones. As in picking up on flaws is the sound, build quality, etc. With that being said, I am looking for some input, I'm in the market for some over ears, it would definitely be safe to say I'm something of a bass head, I like me some good brain rattlings. However I still want good clear mids and highs, I listen predominantly to Hip-Hop and Metal/Hard Rock (ie: Slipknot, Volbeat, Tech N9ne, MGK, etc.) regardless of which genre I'm listening to at any given moment I really prefer to be able to hear whats being said clearly. I'm quite into picking out/apart lyrics and looking for secondary meaning and things like that, as well as some good strong bass. My price range is around $100-ish, I could stand to go about $25-50 more if its really going to make a difference between being content and being wowed.

Thanks in advanced for any and all suggestions, I look forward to learning more and interacting with you all.

*Headphones I currently own*

Boomphone Phantoms - Thoroughly impressed considering I wasn't expecting much more that a mediocre pair of cans with a gimmick attached.

Superlux HD681 EVO - Not bad, just didn't pay attention to them being open, so sound leakage has got them on the shelf.

SOL Republic Jax - Currently my go to in-ears, open to suggestions for a replacement for these also.

Welcome to Head-Fi, sorry about your wallet!

You should consider Gemini HSR1000 (Takstar Pro 80)

Best Luck!

Would you recommend them over the M Audio Q40? that's the only other recommendation I've gotten so far.

Q40s are well known 'Basshead' headphones. Gemini HSR1000 have good bass but also pretty balanced frequency response.

If you want something bassy you should also consider Takstar HD5500 and ATH M50.

Alright noted, going to do some looking around the internet and get myself a decision based off what I've been given thanks again!
