Help picking new IEMs [Shure 315?]

Hello Headfi'ers,

Once again, thank you for having made a wonderful recommendation last time. Unfortunately, my HJE900's died recently, and it seems like I'll just have to send them back.

To be fair, I loved the HJE900's, I'm only starting to understand what people meant when they said 'fun' headphones. I enjoyed the fact that whenever i listened to music, it felt like if the sound was coming from inside my head. I would love to purchase a set of IEM's that induces the same effects.

I'm hoping to avoid having to deal with international sellers, so another pair of HJE900's is out of the question. With that said, I am looking for a pair of IEM with similar quality to the HJE900's. I'm willing to spend up to 200. I've been eyeballing the Shure 315's, but have been unable to find ample reviews/information on them. Can someone shed some light on the quality of Shure 315's?

By spending this amount, I'd like to get headphones with detachable cables.

I welcome all recommendations. Thanks!

Shure has top notch warranty service, so cabled or not, they'll replace it if it's under warranty (they upgraded my SCL4 to a SE425 for free). No detachable cables needed...

I've said this before to a lot of people -- the newer generation shures tend to not fit well; that is, they don't go into the ear canal as well, thus not sealing off enough and losing bass. E.g. the SE420 > SE425 imo.

I have the SE315, 535, 530, 420, 215, SCL2/3/4, SE115m.

Why don't you try out the SE115?

Also, to answer your question about the SE315, they're not a great value. Neutral, but nothing special about them; that's why nobody really writes reviews about that model. Either step down a notch to the SE115 (better than the SE215 imo) or go up a notch to the SE420/SE425.

Hey Grado,

I appreciate the response! I actually ended up going with the SE215 special bass boosting edition. I've considered the 115, but couldn't justify the lack of removable cables.

Thanks again!
