Tbh I don't really like non-stock plugs. They're all too big imo, making them inconvenient for use with a phone. That said, there aren't any smaller options. It'd be cool if it were possible to use a UE cable.

I agree. But for right angles i like it. Why couldn't you use the ue cable?

Zach said he could try to make one with the UE cable, but there are no guarantees. I'd risk losing the $30... But damn I really like that cable! Choices choices...

Just ordered another one with the oyaide rhodium straight plug. Looks like it's pretty small, and should be a better form factor for a phone. I'll keep whichever one I like more.

That oyaide plug is excellent.. it'll work great with smartphone cases and other tight fitting 3.5mm receptacles.  I have it on a couple of cables.. and given a choice, it's the only plug (aside from the smaller Viablue T6) that I get on aftermarket cables for IEMs these days.. it looks great, too.

I am bit hesitant to spend 120$ for recabling on MH1C, when I spent only 30 for them. But all these feedback is tempting, is there any difference between MH1 and MH1C?

I just had a pair of Sony MH1c's recabled by Zach Mehrbach of ZMF Headphones with SPC cable and an Oyaide right angle plug. I had experienced the same delight with their sound but the same frustration with the cable that most everyone else has described. As a result, I hadn't been using them for a while until I saw this thread.

Having just received the ZMF MH1's back a few days ago, I have barely had them out of my ears! Not only is the new cable a pleasure to wear and use, I find the sound to be improved as well, probably due to the cable upgrade and the better plug. Zach also very kindly included extra Sony eartips, packaged in a drawstring pouch with the earphones.

So, even though the original earphones cost a fraction of the recabling price, the final result is a set of earphones that still sound much better than the total investment would suggest.

SQ wise is there any difference between MH1 and MH1C

From what I've read here on HeadFi, there's no SQ difference. They're only different in the 3.5 mm plug contacts arrangement.
