I got reccomanded here the Grado SR225i

But I read that they are not so good for rap

and then i got reccomanded the Beyerdynamic DT880 which has good treble for rock and good bass for rap

are they good headphones? the best i can find at this price?

and what amp will make the best out of the headphones? will a fiio amp be enough?

thanks!!

The DT880's work very well with those genres.

Those are open, aren't they? I tend to shy away from open headphones simply because for "loud" genres it means not really being able to use them anywhere with other people around.

DT880s are semi-open they're a picture of both open and closed.

no offense and I relent as I am more of the hd650 camp than the beyer so my bias shouldnt be spoken as law.

I just find beyer in general too thin and far from the ideal for hip hop etc. this even goes for the beyer cop which everyone recommends for basshead music because its bass is ill defined. The dt990 as well with its bass mediocre at best and lastly the dt880 which is imo and the time that I remeber hearing it boring and far from the ideal.

I would imagine your 1540,hd650,d2000 all to be better recommendations. the last two I have heard though not the 1540.

Well the HD650's are more thin than the DT880's so I don't prefer them for Rap/R&B.  I find the DT880's to have just enough bass for rap but I do prefer my 1540s for just about everything these days.  To each their own though of course.  Just to clarify, I'm not trying to argue but more discuss preferences.  I really only like my D2000's for movies these days.
