Audio Technica Left speaker not working.

Thread Starter

I bought my M50s in April last year, and I've enjoyed them ever since. But just last night I was wearing them out in the cold(really cold, about 10 degrees fahrenheit), and the left speaker started to make a staticy sound and go out so I would adjust the cord and it would work fine, but soon it just stopped playing sound altogether.I tried pressing on the ear cup while it was on my head, and I could hear sound only for a second as I released my hand.I took the left speaker apart, and the red green and black wires are fine.Well the green one has a bit of fraying but its not bad.

I'm not that good with electronics, but any advice could be useful.I'm almost sure it's not the cord.

Well since you said you could adjust the cord and make it work, I'm still thinking that there might be something wrong with the cord itself or the plug, even though you think the cord might be fine. If you could get your hands on a multimeter you could probably see if that's the problem.

However, did you try it with another source to see if it was the source creating the problem? Also, they aren't still under warranty right? I'm guessing since you already took them apart they aren't.
