Oath! Should have saved my money...ugh..these look way sleeker.

The KC06 totalled to almost $80 Aud for me, which is double the Re0 price, so I'm hoping it was a worthy upgrade :/

I'm still quite a bit undecided between these Ostry and the RE-400's :/

The originals look decent too.

Well, hopefully James444's impressions will help allay your fears? He seems to think they're worthy of replacing the RE0?

I'll have both the Ostry and RE0 in house sometime next week, so I'll be able to compare them as well, along with the RE400 that's already in house.

FWIW, I gave Brahms' German Requiem a critical listen last night (the 2009 Berlin RSO / Marek Janowski recording) and the Ostry KC06 did a wonderful job. Tonality / timbre, dynamics, intelligibility of lyrics (pretty tough with choral music) and soundstage / positioning felt all very lifelike and top notch.

Mind you, I'm used to listen with top-tier IEMs like the UERM, K3003 and FI-BA-SS on a regular basis. And yes, the $60 KC06 do fall a bit short in comparison, but not at all woefully so.

(Couldn't find Janowsky on YouTube, so this is DRSO / Blomstedt, also a great performance)

Wow, towards the end when the conductor pulled out his harmonica and the band members picked up their electric guitars it got pretty crazy!!!   You must be in your early 20's, when you get in your 40's-50's, then you'll settle down into the classic rock mode!!LOL!!    Thanks for the recommendation, I'm gonna pick up a pair!!

Yeah, the original still looks very appealing!

Yes, for now, I'll take James' and Zelda's word on the IEMs:)

I'll have my own little comparison between the two up when the KC06 arrive.

Btw @zelda, is your KC06 a review sample? Just asking, because no one who's bought them so far got the red and white tips in your photograph. Only black tips included (not that I'd care anyway, I'm using TF10 tips).

Got mine directly from Ostry. i was surprised myself for all those tips, the white are same as the dark ones, and the red ones are very similar to the wide ones in SQ.

and, Thanks for this mod! should give it a try, if i find wider tips

btw, might get a chance to try the RE600...

Well, iirc here's the only reference I made to the RE0 in this thread:

I couldn't even legitimately claim that the KC06 are an upgrade to the RE0, because as a rule I avoid such claims if I haven't heard the phones in question side by side.

I still remember the latter's sound signature though, and the fact that I've never been overly fond of them... ;)

Failed of course not in a commercial sense, but sonically, because the result is a rather obtrusive castrato phone with strangled bass and screechy treble.

The main reason why I like the KC06 that much is that they manage to combine a balanced sound signature with natural decay, which is a very rare find among DD-based IEMs.
