REVIEW: Ostry KC06 - Page 82

^ the gym is one place where isolation is useful. Lots of clanging, or they have the music turned up. Although it would be nice to be able to use the kc06's there, I'm not getting my hopes up. So far the tpeos h200's work best for me there (and they sound great, so I'm not complaining).

Did you get a pair of KC06s?  If so, have you received them?

Bought them. But  they are taking a circuitous route to my place. Seems that the "estimated delivery date" is now Monday. So, we're back to being sad ostrich.

I didn't pay much attention to the sub bass. Most of my songs don't have much bass to them. I'll have a listen to them both again tomorrow night with some bass heavier songs and let you know wink.gif

Just got a new pair of KC06s in and it looks like Ostry have changed the packaging.

Left side: old - Right side: new

However, plug, cable, splitter and earpieces seem unchanged.

Neither could I detect any sonic differences in a short A/B listening comparison.

For science!

BTW, now many pairs do you have James? Backups for your backups?

I like the one on the right overall but the Chinese on the front of the left one just looks awesome... tho I know not what it means (;_; )

Ordered from Penon Audio. I could never get the tracking number to work. It took 7 days to arrive here in Nebraska. I'll take it! :D

The largest stock tips would not seal well I had no isolation. Ended up using some of the wide bore JVC tips from the FX40, FX101 or FX1X1... not sure which... They seem a bit warm with these tips but it is enjoyable.  Bass is actually great for me. Deep, but not overbearing. Tried the Bass Boost with my CMOY BB and it was very impressive with electronic music.

With about 20 hours of playtime, these are the best IEMs I have heard (...not saying much). They have a good balance and quality highs. I am sensitive to peaks in the midrange. This said, I know a headphone is well balanced when I can turn it up higher an higher and it doesn't bother me.

Brief Comparisons-

MA750s were built like a tank. Warm and pleasant sound with decent detail, though not as detailed as the KC06. This is from memory since they were lost in the mail, sent from a relatives house.

FXD-80s are enjoyable for Electronic but too V shaped with heavy bass and a peak in the highs.

Every other IEM, I have given away...

If these keep sounding as good as they do to me now, I am thinking of buying another pair and keeping them in the box. :)  They kind of have me paranoid about spending more on IEM's. I would hate to spend 2-6 times as much and get negligible gains. I think I might get a new DAP and see where that gets me. I am interested in the KC06A, as well.

I might try the Heir tips from lunashops.com  or the TF10 tips from Logitech to try and make them a bit less warm. Does anyone know if  these tips have the same effect?

After around 12 hours of burn-in (real or imagined), I'm starting to like the KC06.  There was a boominess to the mid bass when I first heard them that is now gone (or I have become accustomed to it).

The Ostry is better than the T-Peos H-100 and almost as good as the GR07 as far as SQ goes.  The KC06 has a wider sound stage and it is more comfortable than the Vsonic -- the GR07 offers better isolation and better build quality.

I still believe that the MDR-7550 is better than the KC06.

More burn-in time for the Ostry....

That is exactly the effect on me that I am counting on!

If they are that good though, it will indeed be difficult for me to resist these cool looking demons as well...
