Received my gold KC06 today. 10 days from HK to Turkey (bought from Penonaudio)

First impressions: No wow factor. Yes its certainly a good performer. But it sounds like my 75 ohm resistor and Kramer moded recabled KSC-35/PortaPro. A little bit clearer and better on the high freq range... Thats all. Sub bass is not there (It sometimes shows itself but the way it produced is not good enough/or OK for me). Highs are smooth. I like the way they produce highs. Can be listened for hours and hours without any fatigue.

I really don't like that they don't have a chin-slider. It's a "must" for me (since I use them cable-up). I hope the cable will become softer in time...

I will inform after burn-in and tip rolling experiments.

For now all I can say that Havi B3 Pro-1 is superior to these in most of the ways (for me of course ;). But for the production of mid bass and smooth highs KC06 is very good.

For me sound-stage is not bigger than B3 Pro1 either. Depth and height are not as good as the B3.

These are first impressions. Will inform again... Hope they change...

I use them cable-up too and just twist the upper cables a bit. No problem at all.

The fact that there would be a slight change like this is a little disconcerting. If they can swap out the cable type, what's stopping Ostry from putting a cheaper driver inside newer units now that they are gaining more international attention? I'm not making any accusations but it's something to wonder about considering a few of the recent not-so-great impressions.

That accusation works for almost every headphone in existence, so it's either we start wearing our tinfoil hat or it's just that maybe people have different expectation and taste (and maybe even bias). wink.gif

Did I mention that these are useless in transit (or in noisy environments)? The isolation is near to non-existent!

My batch of gold KC06 is from the "batch" I suppose from first gold KC06 production (They were out of stock at Penon as I ordered). But I mailed them before purchase and they told me that they still have some gold KC06's. So I suppose its not from the latest batch. I think there is no problem with the first production gold KC06 units...

Been lurking this thread to see if the hype calms down a little and it seems to settle down a bit.

Finally the second batch of impressions has come :)

Now I can have a logical reasoning with myself instead of an impulse buy.

Though I'm still on the fence...

Anyway thanks to everyone sharing his impressions and please try to be objective (man it's hard to go through an 80 pages thread and filter the hype away).

Personally decided to wait it out for the kc06a since it looked as if the reg gold editions were all getting snatched up and it is getting closer and closer to the end of the month. :p

Does this come as a surprise to you? It's been mentioned twice already on page #1 of this thread:

Isolation is a slightly lower than average, at least with stock tips. Aftermarket tips might improve it a tad more.

Hyperbole, the isolation is rather bad but good enough to match my closed fullsize.

Ah okay, maybe try using the portable amp in your profile and see (hear :P) if it make any difference.

Funny, I've been saying that it's good but not really what I would call bestest or whatever it was hyped to in your mind, though I can assure you you're getting your money's worth provided you like the sound signature.

Its not a "big" surprise to me as its already mentioned. I think you didn't get the point...

I am just putting my input and while hyping on something its possible to miss one of the biggest weaknesses: in my book for KC06 "isolation"!     (And for me its really much lower than average)

I think I have already mentioned that these are my initial impressions... I am also not saying that they are "crap". But below my expectations and not better than the B3. I am now burning them-in and will not be listening for a time... I will try everything I can, afterwards.
