Can pressing thumbs on the foam above the drivers damage the headphones?

Hey everyone, first time posting,

The other night my buddy picked up my ATH M50s to have a look and pressed his thumbs on the thin black foam interior of the headphones. I guess he thought they would be squishy or something. His thumbs were pressing down on the plastic driver protectors under the foam. I am not sure how hard he pressed down, it didn't seem too rough, but I am afraid this might have had some impact somehow. I can't hear any problems, and I know the M50s are pretty durable, and I'm probably over thinking it, but can this action, however mild, seriously hurt the headphones?

No, the M50 has a very hard plastic between the driver and the foam in the cups. In the right side and lower left of the picture below you can see the right driver without the padding on it, and the thick plastic covering it. There's no way he did any damage to the driver by pressing on it. I don't have this pair of M50's anymore, so I can't take a picture of them at a better angle.

I was doing the detachable mod to this pair, that's why I took the picture.
