Thanks for the review. After reading it and the comments that were posted, I am concerned that the sound sig of the X1 will be too similar to the L1 which I really didn't like too much. Way too warm - no bass punch and deep tight extension. Just warm mush - on my sources and to my ears.

You're probably not going to like the hd558s (or any other open headphone) then but I wish you the best of luck.

+1. Comfortable, well built, fun sound. But may require EQing, for me they are unlistenable without it. Big spike at 5-7 khz.

Comfort is a huge priority for me and I already EQ everything anyway so they are sounding even better. Thanks for the confirmation.
