Hi,

I bought a macbook and my ugly logitech 2.1 set is dying.

I want to get a good audio set up but on a budget.

Please give me some advice, how can i get the best sound for 150 buck or something like that.

Monoprice 5" studio monitors, currently $168, but sometimes goes on sale for $133.

Klipsch Pro media 2.1 computer speakers.

Bestbuy sometimes has them on sale for $99.

Used set can sometimes sell for under $100, on eBay.

Dayton audio B652 speakers (with add-on amplifier) and a Dayton audio sub-woofer are consider really good bang for the buck.

Yes. You can connect them to your macbook, although some might require an inexpensive adapter.

Monitors that are described as active are powered monitors. The amplifiers are built in.

Yes, you can connect active (self-powered) studio monitors directly to the analog audio output (3.5mm) on the Macbook Pro.
