Is Digital output available from iPod 5G or iPhone 5 Lightening Connector?

Thread Starter
Other threads here have bemoaned the fact that Apple stopped including a Line Out signal when they changed from their 30 pin connector (e.g. iPod Classic) to their 8-pin Lightening Connecter (iPod 5G, iPhone 5S and 5C, iPad Air).

However, Apple sells a dock for the new devices that includes a Line Out plug. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MF030ZM/A/iphone-5s-dock

It has been speculated that that dock must include a DAC that converts an analog Line Out from the digital lightening connector.

So... Is there a way that this digital output can be directly captured from the Lightening Connector for input into higher-quality DACs, etc.?

Thanks.

It depends on the device you're hooking it up to to communicate with it - some DACs like the Cypher Labs Algorithm Solo, a similar Fostex, a Shanling desktop DAC-Amp, etc have a dedicated iPod port. In other cases you use a CCK, which on iOS7 AFAIK enables digital streaming on the iPhone and on the iPad (unlike when iOS6.3 took it out from the latter), but I'm not sure with the Touch using the Lightning port.

Another thing I'm not sure of is that assuming the dock-stand has its own DAC, I don't know if the CCK or even the data cable going to a DAC will still work, which basically just puts the dock between them to keep the iDevice upright, like so:
