Budget Tube Amp Set up For Book Shelf Speakers

For anyone who knows the really basic low end gear. I have a MINIMAL budget but as such would like to get the most out of it. Ive narrowed down my choices to two Amplifying choices and would like opinions. Which one of these set ups is better (if you want to suggest an alternative please do)

For driving NHT Zeros and SW1 passive sub. (25W-75W/8ohm and 40W-100W/8ohm respectively)

Either:

1.Miniwatt Tube Amp ALONE (3.5Wx2 @ 8 ohms)

2.Aric 3.7 PreAmp  WITH Emotiva Mini x-a-100 (50Xx2 at 8ohms)

Thing is that I’m convinced that I want tube sound but I don’t want to spend the big bucks and I also don’t want to choose something so cheap that it will actually sound worse than a plain Solid State.

Thanks

P
