I will bring it over to the meet, so you can try for yourself. X5 is a big improvement in sound stage and detail compared to the X3, but as a result it also feels a bit lean and flat. Some people might prefer the in-you-face energy of the X3.

I am not happy with the interface, which is just a high-res version of X3. It still sucks at handing tags, like I can't even choose Genre>Artist>Album. If I choose Genre, it simply lists all the songs in that genre in alphabetical order, which is pretty useless. At least it can do Artist>Album, which I think X3 couldn't do.

Overall, it sounds fine but I'm not sure if it's worth the added size and weight over the X3, since it's still primarily a portable grab-and-go type DAP. It doesn't have enough power to drive 300+ ohm headphones with sufficient bass control, so it would never be my reference headphone amp for using difficult headphones.

For sure drez, however I'm not sure if many people will like the sound signature of the Femto in this chain, it takes a little to get use too, at first glance it can seem clinical and sterile for some.  GSX is a very neutral amp so however your source sounds that's what you will hear, the only influence the GSX has, is in the way it delivers source to your ears, best summary I've heard is controlled gain between source and phones.

If you want we could use two different signature sources to best described this....

Thanks I am definitely looking forward to testing it out myself!

Is anyone driving from Parramatta/Granville area? I won't have a car available and I don't want to take a train with all the equipment...

The venue is in Epping, close to the station.

syNRG, you may want to add a vague venue to the event description :)

Thread Starter

Is anyone going from or past the Eastern suburbs/the city?

Will update gear part tomorrow/Friday, I just have a pile of assignments and tests hitting me at the moment. Stress will be slightly relieved after a test tomorrow.
