Perfect. A device consumes only as much current (mA) as it needs; 1000mA is fine. In fact, we stock a 15VAC 1000mA EU adapter.

OK I plugged them in and they work fine. huge thanks again !!! ideally if I want to drive planers I better buy at least 14-16 VAC at 400MA or higher?

O2 is internally limited to 12VAC. Additional voltage is wasted as heat. Max output power remains identical.

The one you have is ideal (1000 mA).

I love my O2+ODAC combo from Epiphany Acoustics with my HD-800. When I heard about Aune T1 as a cheap contender I got one to try out but was dissapointed in comparison between them. The O2 drives HD800 better than the T1. O2 sounds wider and more relaxed and I can push the volume a lot higher (higher than I can stand). T1 at max volume seems to be 60-70% of O2's max volume. Also, the T1 sounds a little bit brighter.

Cannot agree more on O2+ODAC combo.

I've purchased it from NwAvGuy, about a year ago, then unfortunately it took me about half year to find time for soldering it, but when I did, It just kept me smiling all the time I was listening to it. The reason to get it originally was a need for an amplifier for LCD2, but it eventually rediscovered most of my other cans.

The combo is really hard to beat.

Where in the USA or on eBay, can I find the best price on a power adapter for a JDS O2 headphone amplifier?

Or are there any advantages for paying a few extra dollars for a good quality adapter?

I'm considering getting the O2 (non dac, going a custom O2 with 6mm jack, rear mount power & RCA input tongue.gif) for my DT880 250ohm from JDS I just have 2 questions

Would the standard gain 2.5x - 6.5x be fine for my headphones?

Do they include the AU power adapter plug thingy or do you have to buy that separate?

Thanks L3000.gif

I can't help you with the power adaptor question but those gains will drive just about anything. My HD 650 is 300 Ohm and my gains of 1x/3x are plenty.

Thanks beerchug.gif

So would any gain be fine or are there recommended gain setups for different headphones? dont mind me I'm a n00b redface.gif
post #27 of 38
Well I'm no expert but generally speaking the higher the resistance of headphones (measured in Ohms) the more gain is required. I think 600 Ohms is the general max and possibly that's where gains of 5x would be useful. If you know that your Beyer's are an end-game then I would suggest gains of 1x/3x will do the job nicely. However, if you're planning on getting some 600 Ohm headphones further down the line then you might want more.

Where are you going to buy the O2 from?
Ah ok, well I would love the HD800s but I dont think I'll be getting them tongue.gif so yeah Beyer's are probably gonna be end of the line or maybe some other 250ohm headphones

Um probably direct from JDSLabs website, as I said earlier I'm going to get a fully customized one

Thanks, had a look, still gonna get the O2 biggrin.gif

Just a quick question before I order, if I get the 2.5 x- 6.5x gain can I open it up and change the resistors out to change the gain? it doesnt bother me much if I have to resolder
